This move retains all the health checks, information giving and consent checks, but trusts women. It takes a significant burden of travel and the risk of starting bleeding in transit away women (in Wales only) who can now complete this medication in their own home just as they do in other countries. Great news.
Let’s hope England and Scotland follow suit. BPAS and NHS abortion providers have been calling for this for years.
