Morning all!

LangCleg - all present and correct.

Got a rush job on so may or may not be about depending on how work-dedicated I can force myself to be!

Here syillb2 strikes but today I am neither in amalfi nor a mother.

Today I am a Saudi princess and whomever cares to disagree will get 100 lashes in the morning Grin

Pratchet

It's a good question.

I note Ollie's personal Twitter account is protected and he states that "Views are my own" - so he's seeking to distance it from being seen as an official government information feed. It may be that it's protected because he wants to stop it getting contaminated by 'inappropriate' comments (whatever that means in this context). He's not going to say anything which conflicts with his official position, of course.

Civil servants are supposed to be neutral and unbiased but his role seems to be to lead a team with the role of improving the lives of LGBT people, so he'll no doubt have views - and advise government - on what he sees as the best way of achieving that, and be enthusiastic about "improving equality and reducing discrimination". The Government Equalities Office website would tell you more about its responsibilities and priorities.

I'm not sure this helps you at all. I should emphasise that I left the civil service a few years ago and that, like Ollie with his Twitter account, the views I express here are my own.

Pratchet · 27/06/2018 16:14

Thanks scarlet. Also, completely understood - we are all flotsam and jetsam here. Personal twitter should frankly be a sacrifice he has to make in that job. Nothing is completely private, after all.

ScarletBegonias · 27/06/2018 16:29

Pratchet

Twitter was younger in my day but I don't recall being aware of senior officials having their own accounts which included references to government policy.

What I do remember is the difference between the quite tightly controlled departmental twitter accounts and occasional posts that ministers (or their special advisors) would make on their own Twitter accounts whenever the mood took them. But we won't go into that!

R0wantrees · 27/06/2018 17:07

Confused I have a deleted post. No email. Blush

CosmicCanary · 27/06/2018 17:08

Still here 👐👐

Bespin · 27/06/2018 17:12

Sorry here had a few deletions today though not due to current guidelines and rules and fully except that mumsnet felt. That we were all not Enguged in a. Decision but fighting among ourselves. Though I was not swearing as I don't. Like that so don't tend to do it

ScarletBegonias · 27/06/2018 17:27

Alarmed to see you getting deleted, R0wan.

My impression is that your posts have a much higher proportion of indisputable facts and much less 'argument' than those of most of us.

Pratchet · 27/06/2018 17:28

Rowan what on EARTH

R0wantrees · 27/06/2018 22:38

I can see what's happening.

LangCleg · 27/06/2018 22:42

Has anybody found a quick way of seeing whether or not they've had posts deleted? I wouldn't have a clue if I have or not. Presumably only strikes get emails?

OP posts:
AngryAttackKittens · 27/06/2018 22:46

Still here, currently very annoyed.

LangCleg · 27/06/2018 22:51

Annoyed AAK does the best cutting lines. I can only ever manage swearing, so am jealous.

OP posts:
ResistanceIsNecessary · 27/06/2018 22:58

Agree about AAK doing the best icy come-backs! The username also makes me smile when I see it as well.

Pratchet · 27/06/2018 22:58

That is mysterious Rowan?
Do you think it's your turn to be targeted because you are our amazing, valuable resource?

Pratchet · 27/06/2018 23:00

Please as far as I'm concerned I just want you to do anything to stay and not be banned.

R0wantrees · 27/06/2018 23:02

I think there's a bit of opportunistic game playing.

R0wantrees · 27/06/2018 23:05

I rarely report. I believe in civil, free and robust discussion.

Seems it may sadly be more neccessary to do so.

AngryAttackKittens · 27/06/2018 23:05

Am restraining myself in Juzza's thread lest I too be banned for talking back to teacher.

R0wantrees · 27/06/2018 23:07

AngryAttackKittens Its worth playing the long game- If we must!

LangCleg · 27/06/2018 23:07

Lesbophobia for the win!

OP posts:
BlackeyedSusan · 27/06/2018 23:18

hissing spitting clawing cats ahoy... hoping you stay.

ChattyLion · 27/06/2018 23:32

Hello, i’ve probably missed the register for today so will be getting a ‘late’ mark by my name at this hour! Blush

spontaneousgiventime · 27/06/2018 23:34

Still here 2 strikes. I did plan on a MN free day 'till I was told I needed popcorn Grin

thebewilderness · 28/06/2018 02:36

JuzzaL got the boot for talking back to Kate the mod.
Spont is unable to sign on after not having signed off.

I got a note saying that people were complaining to MNHQ that I was mean to them. The response to my reporting a personal attack on another person was to tell me that I should avoid some posters and topics "just to be on the safe side".
I have two strikes so I guess these kinds of rather obvious threats are supposed to cow me into being the sort of woman that is an asset to Mumsnet sales. Speaking of sales. I made the mistake of buying from one of MN advertisers before checking the reviews. Don't do that.
