A Scottish Man Friday! Yay Grin

Popchyk · 22/06/2018 15:16

She's got a Man Friday tee shirt on. Grin

sexnotgender · 22/06/2018 15:20

Good job! Is shesorry he one of us?

Snappity · 22/06/2018 15:25

Of course, if someone were to lie about self-iding as a particular gender (and I am not suggesting the traveller did) they could be prosecuted for fraudulent misrepresentation. That's the legal protection and it is already in place.

HotRocker · 22/06/2018 15:29

How can you prove it?

Picassospaintbrush · 22/06/2018 15:31

By whom Snappity, who is going to prosecute and where will the money come from to prosecute Snappity?

Are only those wealthy enough protected and only after the event in your utopia, Snappity?

ProfessionalBarren · 22/06/2018 15:31

You can’t lie about self-ID surely? Isn’t that the point? If you feel a bit masculine you can identify as a man because that’s what gender is - subjective, unverifiable feelings. Clearly this fine gent was feeling very manny and who are we to question their feelz?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 22/06/2018 15:33

Snappity You transphobe!

How dare you question anyones Gender du Jour?

spontaneousgiventime · 22/06/2018 15:33

Grin Love the tenacity of Trish and the tee shirt.

jellyfrizz · 22/06/2018 15:36

“We have reviewed our procedures and have made all of our teams aware of the appropriate approach to gender presentation issues. Our number one priority remains the safety and comfort of everyone.”

It would be interesting to know what the “appropriate approach to gender presentation issues” is.

ScienceIsTruth · 22/06/2018 15:39

Maybe they're gender fluid? Prove that they aren't; little tip for you, you can't.

Look at Pip/Philip Bunce, he identifies as a woman for half the working week, and as a man the rest of the time. He's even won 'businesswoman of the year' whilst identifying as Pips. I shit you not!!

womanformallyknownaswoman · 22/06/2018 15:49

Imagine working for Bunce - not being allowed to object to someone parading their unnaturalness in plain sight. Imagine being gaslighted into having to confirm their sex diversions. Oh wait - that's reality..

OlennasWimple · 22/06/2018 15:52

Imagine being arrested by Abi - she's female one day (so could presumably perform a search on me) but tomorrow it will be Callum coming to work, so presumably he wouldn't be able to search me. Hmm

Picassospaintbrush · 22/06/2018 15:53

I think the fake body parts he wears are the most baffling. I mean, when he's in a room with a bunch of guys and they are with him, well we all know hard it is for some men to keep their eyes off your chest.

WTF is going through their minds with Phil and his fakes?

ItsNachoCheese · 22/06/2018 15:58

Grin for a scottish Man Friday 🎉

Elletorro · 22/06/2018 16:26

The argument that a sexual predator would be worried about fraud is laughable.

TerfsUp · 22/06/2018 16:28

Love it!

dudsville · 22/06/2018 16:29

Hey, we could infiltrate higher level all male institutions!

TerfsUp · 22/06/2018 16:31

Our number one priority remains the safety and comfort of everyone.”

How can the safety of women be a priority if they give keys to anyone who self-identifies?

TransplantsArePlants · 22/06/2018 16:34

Thread about it when this happened

BetsyM00 · 22/06/2018 16:37

I am that man. Blush Me and my moobs on page 3 of the P&J!

I agree, it's really good to have a gender critical article in the Scottish press. The Inverness Courier is supposed to be running it too, so hopefully we can build on this.

Strangely I was quite prepared to be outed in real life over this but the reporter printed my name wrong Grin. I'm not really called Trish, but since it's Friday I'm toying with Terry or Tony, or perhaps Tim. Other than that I think it was a really good article and got all the main points across.

Hostelling Scotland's response was interesting as it seems they are not going to protect single-sex dorms but instead make the receptionist responsible for judging whether a man chooses to be recognised as a woman 'passes' or not. Please email [email protected] to complain and ask some awkward questions.

Snappity Fraudulent misrepresentation, really? Think you are grasping at straws. For one, I really really felt like a man when I checked into the hostel and I would love to know how you hope to prove otherwise. And secondly, the other party suffered no damages as a result of it - in fact I paid them!

TransplantsArePlants · 22/06/2018 16:38

Excellent stuff

Terfulike · 22/06/2018 16:46

Well done!

Theswaggyotter · 22/06/2018 16:53

Great coverage Betsy! P and J has a huge circulation so you will reach large swathes of Scottish readers previously unaware of these proposals

Picassospaintbrush · 22/06/2018 16:57

make the receptionist responsible for judging.

I do think this is appalling from an employment perspective. Putting someone in a position where they have been forced to accept an identification from someone who then goes on to harass or assault is grossly unfair. The employees involved are being totally ignored in all of this.
