...for saying he's male. It just gets dafter.

Hope was indeed involved with some dubious stuff in his youth (we have a couple of mutual acquaintances...).

Spot on on this, though.

TinyRick · 16/06/2018 14:24

Oh I agree he is doing good work exposing Stonewall's brolly and TRAs rhetoric.

Still can't fawn over him though after knowing what I know Envy (not envy)

GenderApostate · 16/06/2018 14:55

There is some, erm, disturbing stuff about someone who may or may not be him out there.
I deliberately avoid him on twitter, his selfies make me very uncomfortable and I don’t want to be involved in his obvious fetish.

Southfields · 16/06/2018 15:01

It is very mean and horrible and I do not endorse it at all.

Disclaimer to prevent MN banning me.

ThisisSparta · 16/06/2018 15:04

Oh, I didn’t know anything about this person beyond what they post on their twitter, if my suggestion that they are an ally to women is wrong I apologise. (Probably worth listening to people who know this person in real life instead).

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 16/06/2018 15:07

I don't think it matters, ThisisSparta. As the saying goes, even a stopped clock is right twice a day, and Hope is definitely right about biological male people who describe themselves as lesbians.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 16/06/2018 15:13

But on Hope's page it says 'places he's lived'. I'm confused then.

ThisisSparta · 16/06/2018 15:13

Good point Prawn

R0wantrees · 16/06/2018 15:18

Hope has been targetted by some TRAs who are very active Twitter users for the last few months.

This is not surprising.

Mass reports using particular Twitter guidelines will lead to this happening.

"Isn't Hope the transwomen who, whereever they go, uses the gents and takes selfies? Then posts them on social media" and he's aware he's a man in a dress?

Hope sounds brilliant! The using mens loo's and taking selfies is fab, not giving a fuck what other men think about how he dresses, more of that could only be positive. I'm glad he hasn't had any bother, and hope he never does.

Wtf are twitter playing at?

loveyouradvice · 16/06/2018 15:36

I just want to celebrate that he is bringing attention to what really matters to us - and yup, taking selfies of himself in the Men's loos is fab.... I SO WANT TO EXPAND THE BANDWIDTH OF WHAT BEING A MAN IS....

Sorry to hear that he may have a murky past

WickedLazy · 16/06/2018 15:47

"A man says he’s a man and is hounded because it doesn’t fit the orthodoxy"

I reckon the root of all this has been to preserve masculinity, and I think it's actually quite homophobic in many ways. Men are masculine, women, and men that were born in the wrong body and should have been female, are feminine. No middle ground can be allowed, or suddenly men and women aren't actually so different after all, and the patriarchy begins to fall apart. I think female to male transitioning was never really on the agenda, and has taken on a life of it's own. M>F has always been the TRA focus.

I know many religious people who suddenly started to feel sympathy for gay men, upon hearing they were straight women who'd been "born in the wrong body". They were poor trapped souls, not immoral, unatural gays like those other people also having male on male anal sex Hmm

AsAProfessionalFekko · 16/06/2018 16:12

I thought very religious types thought that God didn't make mistakes.

MsMcWoodle · 16/06/2018 16:17

What I've seen of Hope on twitter has been very sound. He will be a loss.

WickedLazy · 16/06/2018 16:39

If god didn't make mistakes then what are famine, drought, plague, genetic disabilities, etc? Things sent to test humanities faith and obedience? A relative of mine seems to think of it like that?

WickedLazy · 16/06/2018 16:43

Thinking about it, those things used to often be seen as a punishment from God? I think even amongst most elderly people now, that sort of thinking is dying out. I hope so anyway.

Kyanite · 16/06/2018 16:44

Hope says that he isn't trans. I've seen some falling outs with old school transsexuals but not sure what that's about as they are critical of the TRAs too.

Datun · 16/06/2018 17:19

Maybe you can't hold Hope up as a paragon of virtue. They are a fetishist cross dresser, after all.

What Hope isn't, is a woman. And is perfectly happy to say so.

I should imagine transactivists hate it because Hope makes no attempt to be anything other than what Hope is, and at the same time lets everyone know it.

Hope absolutely should not be in female changing rooms. Hope is male. The reasons why they shouldn't don't change, just because they are saying it themself.

spontaneousgiventime · 16/06/2018 17:23

It is no different to having a vagina made out of an inverted penis. You cannot change sex no matter how much you think you can.
