Would you buy a house that had an urinal in it?

Does anyone own a house with an urinal?

If not why not?

Personally, I know men can pee sitting down.

I stayed at a record producer's country house in Devon and downstairs alongside my bedroom there was a shower room with a urinal but no WC. It was a bit awkward as I am a woman. But I solved it by peeing in the shower (as I took a shower).

I thought this house was unique so I am surprised to see your post!

Urgh. Wouldn't it smell?

And I wouldn't want to clean one really.

So it's a "no" from me.

Seeingadistance · 12/06/2018 20:29

Only if everything else what what I wanted, and the seller reduced the price so I could re-do the bathroom.

mookinsx · 12/06/2018 20:29

If there was a toilet as well then it can always be removed. DP is a plumber so trust that he could get me a proper throne in place

SardineReturns · 12/06/2018 20:30

Men who are keen to pee standing up in the house piss in the sink don't they?

AveABanana · 12/06/2018 20:32

I have 3 sons, two of them consistently urinate all over the floor/walls/toilet seat and the other is terrified of the flush. Yes I bloody would have a urinal not that I taught them to do standing up wees anyway

Mostly I'd like a fingerprint operated lock on the toilet door. Or a total room-flush system like in those public toilet things.

placemats · 12/06/2018 20:37

Boys and men are also very capable of pissing in the bath or the shower.

Where did you do your number twos Southfields ? Grin

I'm not sure if I'd want to buy a house that had one. It would have to be totally expunged from my mind by a great conversion (which doesn't come cheap).

I would buy if and repurpose the plumbing to a washer/dryer.

GilligansKitchenIsland · 12/06/2018 21:02

I would. You buy a house expecting that you'll need to change a few things to fit your family / taste / lifestyle, don't you? I'd prefer a squatty potty over a urinal though - I'd probably get rid of a urinal but I'd keep a squatty potty!

Ha ha ha ha ha! I hope this is a light-hearted thread and not a thread with a big reveal about some terrible urinal related trauma ....

I’d be glad to buy any fecking house TBH but if I had money to make a choice I might still buy a house with a urinal TBH due to the willy possessors in the house constantly pissing on the seat and floor....

FortunateCookie · 12/06/2018 22:15

I love this thread!

And I’m with Offed, I’d buy any house if I could. I don’t have need of a urinal in the traditional sense (no men in my house) but I would practice using it myself. I believe you can learn to use one as a woman?

deydododatdodontdeydo · 12/06/2018 22:16

I almost had one installed when we recently had the bathroom done, but there wasn't space.
It seems better suited to men peeing.
I'd have a bidet if I had space too.

DramaAlpaca · 12/06/2018 22:20

I would. I have a DH & 3 DSes, all four of whom pee standing up. So definitely yes Grin

elportodelgato · 12/06/2018 22:22

Oh my gosh, the Victor Horta house in Belgium has one in the bedroom! It lives in a cupboard and swings out - Horta was too lazy to go to the bathroom in the night. Poor Mrs Horta!

Would you buy a house that had an urinal in it?
deydododatdodontdeydo · 14/06/2018 16:34

Poor Mrs Horta was probably peeing in a chamber pot next to the bed anyway in that day and age.

louiseaaa · 14/06/2018 17:13

Yep. I'm the only person without a penis in my house. Including the pets..
