I'm a bit late in but I was gong to say how badly written that is... it will show, will it?
I'd never have got that past Ethics! And I am surprised that Loughborough is being so lax or so lazily political... 6 PhD students to explore the current and changing landscape of sports participation for transgender adults and children and recommend changes to promote inclusive participation.
I now a couple of the supervisors... I am very surprised at one of them. He never used to be quite so relaxed about research terminology! Most egregious is talking about the portrayal of transgender sporting elite and using Caster Semenya as their example of "gender-diverse sports personalities" They'd have been better off not using anybody... but probably haven't as all the others carry highly negative connotations!
If you read through the 5 studies, they all state that they are looking to make changes in order to support transgender athletes into sport... they aren't fact finding in the broadest sense, so they will find what they are looking for and will probably present it as "This is what is needed to get what is wanted for all athletes"
