Stop Funding Hate/Stonewall article

In it the stonewall FAQ such gems as:

So, could a lesbian have a trans woman as a lesbian partner, or a gay man be with a trans man?

Of course. If they fancy each other. First and foremost, we need to recognise that trans women are women, and trans men are men

Should trans women be able to sit on women-only panels or be on women-only shortlists?

Yes, of course. Trans women are women, and because of that it makes sense that they should have the same opportunity to be involved in debates as any other woman. Women-only panels and shortlists exist to try and redress the gender inequality that all women – trans women included - face every day.

If this change to the law happens, what will it mean for me and my family?

If you’re a cis person, it will barely affect you.

I have contacted Stop Funding Hate and he has asked me to to point out what is hateful about the article. I have said the article isn't hateful but is dismissing the concerns of women and that women who challenge the notion that "trans-women are women" can be subjected to an awful lot of hate.

Anyway, if anyone else wants to go and comment, please do so.

I am so sad for Lesbians fighting the fight they are in their own community and for women's rights, I always tell people how hard it is for you and always will.

I am sorry more so, because the LGB+ community will get the blame, as it was Stonewall and Mermaids pushing all of this ideology and social change around gender.

I will leave the Stonewall fighting to the LGB+ community.

As someone from a community with a high prevalence of co morbid on the Autistic spectrum, I am very angry about our children being steralised on the back of Stonewall and Mermaids ideology.

A trans person says:
Now, there’s no denying that general mainstream acceptance of trans people has a ways to go. But what these activists don’t realize is that public perception goes a long way in influencing the laws that dictate our life. To obtain positive change we need to public behind us.

Yet sadly, instead of trying to convince the public to treat us like normal people, trans folk would rather make up lies in an effort to make us out to be more stigmatized than we actually are  –  lies that become obvious with the teensiest amount of research. To make it worse, these same people get offended over the most absurd and ultimately pointless things. And all of this makes us look like the whiniest and most broken people on the planet.

If I roll my eyes at this shit, I can’t even begin to imagine what a non-trans person thinks.

BatShite · 08/06/2018 10:09

The whole process is so traumatic and demeaning that many trans people simply can’t face it. There’s no need for it to be this way. Lots of other countries, including Ireland, have already reformed this process and (at the time of writing) the world hasn’t collapsed around them.

So traumatic and demeaning, really? It seems the amount of people the process was meant to help, it is helping. So we seem to have it right currently.

Trans people and trans allies are keen to have robust and honest debates about how to make trans equality a reality in the UK.

Just LOL at this Grin Barefaced lies.

DontBuyANewMumAnyLUSHProduce · 08/06/2018 10:18

Interesting Stonewall have said the whole process is demeaning and traumatic.

There's nothing hateful about that article Confused

CuriousaboutSamphire · 08/06/2018 14:41

Crikey! You are right daim

It isn't at all hateful... mainly because it doesn't even consider being empathetic to ALL human beings.

It is a one sided, peremptory set of pronouncements that totally ignore the fact that ALL human beings share the planet and that the rights of any one cohort should not ever overrulle those of another.

You don't have to disadvantage women to gain additional rights for trans people.

What happened to mutual respect and measured debate?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 08/06/2018 14:44

And now you have read that.. read the OP again!

I have said the article isn't hateful but is dismissing the concerns of women

The Stonewall article is about a campaign group that is called Stop Funding Hate

Reading... a good thing!

GColdtimer · 08/06/2018 22:40

Absolutely @CuriousaboutSamphire It's so utterly dismissive it's untrue. I am going to write to the director of Stop Funding Hate this weekend.

A bit off topic but there is a right twitter spat between Simon Fanshawe, one of the original founders of Stonewall and Ruth Hunt. Simon, in response to a tweet about something Kristina Harrison said last night, attempts to persuade an the unmovable Hunt to try to consider alternative views on Trans women. Ruth Hunt is not moved and pretty much tells Simon to mind his own business. Stonewall has lost the plot and Ruth Hunt did not come out of the exchange at all well.

GColdtimer · 08/06/2018 23:21

I remember a poster once said on here that stonewall doesn't represent her as a lesbian woman. Totally lost the plot but people still hold them up as the voice of the LGB community.
