I have to be honest I don't think to my knowledge IRL I've ever met a transperson

I see the discussions but never has affected me enough to need to give, consider or argue my point of view IRL... until today

This woman is brilliant!

The fact that, the aim is, for there to no longer be any terms to describe cunty people as a group, is an issue for all cunty people.

Obviously.

The idea that there needs to be no collective term for cunty people and that the previous well accepted ones need to be repurposed to mean something else completely is misogynistic.

We have spent long enough being considered by society, religion etc as non people - as chattels, as lesser, as men-gone-wrong, as sub-human - and still are in many parts of the world (and I would argue that the attitude hasn't entirely gone away in most of the world).

So just when the women's movements all over the world start to make real gains or at least get media attention - in regard to a massive range of issues from rape to child marriage to increasting representation in politics and different jobs and so on all of it... That there is a move to take the words woman, girl, female, and totally change what they mean.

This is of course not down to individual transpeople, it is a general and heavily pushed aim though of a lot of TAs, and it is gaining ground fast. Why it is gaining ground so fast - to remove the words we have for ourselves just when we are gaining some ground - is another question again and one with not many happy answers I think.

SardineReturns · 27/05/2018 15:13

Why are people on about toilets again?

There are quite a few TW in prison for sex offences and violent offences, seems weird to say that they are incapable of sex crimes.

SardineReturns · 27/05/2018 15:15

And I suppose that is the thing.

If you literally believe that anyone who says they are a woman immediately and literally becomes a woman then obviously they have the same risk of being a sex offender as other women ie extremely low.

Of course most people don't believe that at all and don't feel that saying the magic words "I am a woman" immediately confers on any and all men an almost total inability to commit sex offences.

And all women know that loads of men - enough for most women to have had multiple incidents - are capable of committing sex offences. We also know that they will go to great lengths in order to access victims.

Magdalen Berns' video that I suggested covers many important points. Some of which Daimbars had raised on a zapped thread.

Here's another Magdalen Berns video, 'Response to Trans Bathrooms':

LangCleg · 27/05/2018 15:45

Lol. I've known trans women [not called that until very recently though] since the 1980s.

As have I! But the brains can't compute simultaneously being friends with trans people and having a gender critical position.

Mamaryllis · 27/05/2018 15:52

Lol. I’ve got trans friends and have had for twenty years, daimbars. Are we counting new wave? Sadly I know a bunch of teenage girls who claim to be boys too. And I’ve met a shit ton of para Olympic athletes (dd2 trains with them). Grin Not sure on the actual Nazis, but I know (or knew) a few holocaust survivors who definitely met some.
I saw Magdalen’s posts earlier - hopefully she is ok.

LangCleg · 27/05/2018 15:53

Anticipating it will happen based on zero evidence and no reported cases in the UK

Mark Lazarus.

Pratchet · 27/05/2018 16:03

Daim: if you want male-bodied people in female spaces it's YOU that has to prove why it would be safe, not US who has to prove why it isn't. So YOU have to prove that sex offenders wouldn't aabyse self ID, YOU have to prove that trans people don't commit sex crimes, and you have to show why self ID doesn't put a single woman at risk. Good luck with that.

Pratchet · 27/05/2018 16:06

I don't want male-bodied people on female spaces. I don't consent to being seen naked by a male bodied person or seeing him naked. I have a human right to consent and I do not give my consent. A woman's 'no' is enough. When there are male-bodied people who do not accept my 'no', that is proof enough that they do not respect female boundaries and a complete demonstration of why they should stay out of female spaces.

Ereshkigal · 27/05/2018 16:16

Great post Pratchet. It amazes me how willing people are to deny our right to consent to these things.

Pratchet · 27/05/2018 18:12

Thanks. Yes Eresh. We must do this for all our daughters. They might not realise how much they need us to do it, and they might fight us, but we still have to.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 27/05/2018 18:32

Mark Lazarus, a transvestite, tried to rape a 71 year old woman in a public toilet in Devon in 2013. It took me a couple of minutes to find that, Daim. And if you're going to say a transvestite doesn't count I suggest you argue it out with Stonewall.

"There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics

Oh..

Where does 'complete bollocks' fit then

daimbar: Anticipating it will happen based on zero evidence and no reported cases in the UK seems pretty irrational to me

DisturblinglyOrangeScrambleEgg: Plenty of men have been caught doing it. Plenty of men are men in public and cross-dress in private before coming out as trans later in life.

Like trans woman Marie Dean, who as crossdresser Gary Dean Marie broke into teenaged girls' homes and wanked whilst wearing their knickers and has now transitioned in jail and demanding hair straighteners and make-up and to be moved to the female prison estate. Predictably, The Guardian are treating her like a martyr because the narcissist (literal) wanker has gone on hunger strike. Please note how The G's report misses many of the worst details of her offences, e.g. the wanking, illegal possession of CS gas, resisting arrest, and assaulting a police officer in the line of their duty.

Still, I'm sure that @Daimbar would be happy for Marie Dean to use the female toilets with her or her daughter, right? After all, she's now legally a woman.

It never seems to occur to self-id proponents that perhaps the reason why sex crimes in toilets are relatively rare is because at this time most are still single-sex. UNICEF et al advocate that girls in developing countries are given access to sex-segregated toilets for privacy and safety, so why aren't British women allowed the same right?

John Worboys bought drugs, alcohol, and a "rape kit" of condoms etc in order to rape female passengers. He risked his job as a taxi driver to rape, and may have even chosen that profession in order to gain access to women. Marie Dean broke into houses to get access to teen girls' knickers. If men will go to all that effort, expense, and risk to commit sexual violence against women, what makes you think that they will say "Self-id and get legal access to all women's loos? Nah, too much effort." or even "Pretend to have self-ided to blag access to women's loos? Nah, too much effort."? We would be extremely irrational to fail to anticipate the possibility that self-id will increase male-perpetrated sex crime rates in women's loos.

This is an excellent point, well made.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 27/05/2018 20:04

What a clear, logical explanation, bd67th. I wish I'd written it. Have bookmarked. Thank you.

Ereshkigal · 27/05/2018 20:43

Absolutely. I have spent all day with my 11 year old niece today. She's so grown up yet so vulnerable. Even if I never have a daughter I will do it for her.

nauticant · 27/05/2018 21:48

Here's another Magdalen Berns video, 'Response to Trans Bathrooms'

That is a strong response video R0wantrees. Particularly since Jaclyn Glenn's public image seems to be about performing femininity. The contrast between her and Magdalen Berns performing humanity is stark.

ndjdbr · 29/05/2018 20:21

What's her PayPal for? I mean I understand the purpose of PayPal but does she run a charity or something?

AskAuntLydia · 29/05/2018 21:49

To fund her videos ndjdbr

She has cancer and is still recovering from brain surgery

A list of sex crimes committed by transwomen, mostly but not all in the US.

It's not a comprehensive list by any means, but several. It's harrowing listening to them.

This video is interesting party because of its introduction, that lays out various TRA arguments about sex crimes. Daimbar is currently at denial, it seems.
