Is there any point trying to asset up local feminist groups?

I looked online for any in my area (Fife/ Edinburgh) but those that came up seem very keen on the mantras. I presume many public feminist organisations get taken over by TRAs who seem good at joining and then dominating them.
Would regular meetings achieve much more than chatting over social media? The trouble is that social media is increasingly censorial (if that's a word) and we seem to be fragmenting as women leave / are banned from Twitter.

Yes there is. Start by making copies and lending libraries of material that is likely to be removed.

People are being removed for wrongthink, it may be the case that at some point in the future then feminist texts will also be removed. Or people will find themselves unable to access them.

There are many many groups that do not "advertise" themselves on social media and meet up in real life. TBH that where the
real work gets done! If they shut down all GC Twitter accounts it won't mean diddly squat I'm sure there will be one near you however nothing to stop you setting up one. Grass roots feminism at its best!

Never underestimate the power of women talking together. Why do you think activists are so desperate to shut down Mumsnet?
Just try to keep it word of mouth. Only accept women on personal recommendation. Keep it low key and be vague when asked about 'meetings' if you're not certain.
It's dreadful that women have to organise in such ways but as has recently been pointed out: In 1908 the suffragettes were able to advertise their meetings openly when they met to discuss and challenge laws. In 2018, women need to keep venues secret when we want to meet to discuss changes to laws because of the harassment and intimidation aimed at us.

I looked for Feminist groups about 2 years ago before I'd even heard of the trans issue, given I live near Cambridge I was surprised to find all the ones I could find weren't active. Unfortunately I now understand why, but resent the fact it also means I can't meet up with like minded people to actually talk rather than just interacting on line

I'd like to find one. New to the area though so I have no contacts.

There's always a point: Rosa Parks; Angela Davis, May Hobbs....... us. That would be why they are trying to shut us down.

Don't forget some groups say the 'right' things online because that's where the harassment comes from but are very different in RL.
The majority of TRAs never come to actual meetings -they just stay in bed and post self righteous messages on Facebook or Twitter with no intention of actually coming to a meeting or doing anything positive. So in RL you can get on with the actual feminist stuff.

If you can, a good place to start would be to attend a WPUK or We Need to Talk.. event. You will definitely make real world contacts and have a brilliant time too.
