At least in Basingstoke.

In standing as Women’s Officer at his CLP David is showing just how easily abused self ID can be when parties or organisations don’t have any gatekeeping.

I believe the other women’s officer is now complaining about this on Twitter.

TerfsUp · 22/05/2018 20:44

Well done to the candidate and to James Kirkup.

I believe the other women’s officer is now complaining about this on Twitter.

I know. Grin

birdbandit · 22/05/2018 21:12

Sadly we live in a time where we need men to point out how ridiculous this is, to have people listen!

TheMostBeautifulDogInTheWorld · 22/05/2018 21:44

I can't believe that a Labour Women's Officer is policiing the womanliness of another Labour Women's Officer candidate. I can't believe it, I tell you. The transphobic bigot should be banned. From, er, something.

Noqonterfi · 22/05/2018 21:48

What on earth do they have to complain about. You can't have one rule for one and one rule for another. Oh wait.....

SuitedandBooted · 22/05/2018 21:55

According to they who-must-not-be-mentioned, it is an outrage, as David is "gender queer at most" and therefore doesn't qualify.

Slightly missing the point of the exercise............?

ToeToToe · 22/05/2018 22:00

Ah, so Madigan is allowed to judge which male-born, malebodied people can identify as a woman, and run for women's officer - but nobody else is. The line is where Madigan says it is. I see.

The Labour Party rules have been made clear - anyone who says they identify as a woman, is a woman, and can run for these positions.

LaSqrrl · 22/05/2018 22:38

I think David retains he/his pronouns, even on Wednesdays. Because his gender identity is internal, and need needs no worldly validation Wink He is a strong, confident woman (on Wednesdays).

LOL.

I did seriously think Muscato was a stunt, I kept waiting for the "LOL, gotcha", but it never came. Let's hope this other Dave makes a womanlywednesday point.

Confession: I am ashamed that I now don't even have to double check the spelling of 'Muscato' these days.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 22/05/2018 22:39

LM saying "gender queer at most" so does that apply to the Bunsen person too?!
It's soooo confusing, if only there was an easy was to separate people by sex....

SuitedandBooted · 22/05/2018 22:49

Yes Waddle but how would you have the fun of being an XY person, and still being able to "identify" as a lesbian, as they-who-must-not-be- mentioned does, if you had to rely on something as boring as reality?

ToeToToe · 22/05/2018 22:50

Oh, Madigan's going to kick up a fuss, and I expect it'll all be stopped - this time.

But David's made the point - he was accepted. By Labour's own barmy self-ID rules. If somebody seriously wanted to abuse the rules, they could, they would just leave out the interview with the Spectator.

He's shown self ID can (and will) be abused.

ErrolTheDragon · 22/05/2018 22:55

I had to look up gender queer to remind myself:
'a person who does not subscribe to conventional gender distinctions but identifies with neither, both, or a combination of male and female genders.'

Ah, so it includes people who will be gender critical when they grow up?

LapdanceShoeshine · 22/05/2018 22:56

Paul Waugh says David has been suspended Sad

Pratchet · 22/05/2018 22:57

He got suspended apparently

ToeToToe · 22/05/2018 23:00

Did they question his gender identity? Shock

He'll be burned at the stake at midnight #Salem

spontaneousgiventime · 22/05/2018 23:04

So he's been suspended after they accepted his application? The Labour party really needs to get to grips with its self. It's a joke just now.

ErrolTheDragon · 22/05/2018 23:22

The hero(ine) of the hour - or someone identifying as (checks day, still tues) him has just started a thread...

Pratchet · 22/05/2018 23:31

He got suspended because we applauded him

spontaneousgiventime · 22/05/2018 23:36

We may have applauded Pratchet but LM didn't like it so out he goes.

EmpressOfSpartacus · 22/05/2018 23:42

So he was suspended for making Labour's self-ID policy look daft? But Labour were doing a good job on that already.

Pratchet · 22/05/2018 23:48

Absolutely spontaneous. Labour thought it was all fine until the women approved. It wasn't what he did. It was the fact the feminists approved which made them think 'we can't have this!'

Ineedacupofteadesperately · 22/05/2018 23:58

Thank you David.

TransplantsArePlants · 23/05/2018 06:18

God, Twatter is like wading through treacle. No wonder nobody understands anything, when they've got so few words and so much visual clutter to contend with.

CountFosco · 23/05/2018 08:08

" I enjoy the full womanness of my beard"

I particularly loved this quote. Well done David, woman of the day!

boatyardblues · 23/05/2018 08:14
