mobile.nytimes.com/2015/06/07/opinion/sunday/what-makes-a-woman.html

Their truth is not my truth. Their female identities are not my female identity. They haven’t traveled through the world as women and been shaped by all that this entails. They haven’t suffered through business meetings with men talking to their breasts or woken up after sex terrified they’d forgotten to take their birth control pills the day before. They haven’t had to cope with the onset of their periods in the middle of a crowded subway, the humiliation of discovering that their male work partners’ checks were far larger than theirs, or the fear of being too weak to ward off rapists.

Well worth reading in full.

This week both the Guardian and the NYT have finally opened their pages to common sense.

One step closer ...

Good to see. This whole intersectional feminism we're hearing so much about is "divide and conquer" and is being used to pit groups of women against each other, and has opened the door for TRAs to claim they are actual women in the most fundamental way. However, the life experiences of those born as women have a commonality that transcends intersectionality and, unfortunately for TRAs, excludes trans women.

Of course every woman's experiences are not exactly the same, but the overwhelming majority of women have experiences of harassment and discrimination as a result of being biologically female.

It really articulates what madness ensues when you start confusing sex with gender...in order to 'change sex'.

And "front hole"? Omfg!

The article is from 2015.

I didn't notice that!

And yet would be so relevant to publish today - but probably would never get printed at the moment.

This is all such a good illustration of the answer 'what do you get when you intersect feminism with a penis?' Women's experiences and definitions are vilified and silenced.

The 'Reader picks' comments under a recent NYT opinion piece were interesting:
