Linda Bellos "a relief to know sanity has returned to the notion of British justice" CPS decision 'not to pursue a case'

(Linda's statement yesterday afternoon was a little lost amongst other postings so may have been missed by some people)

"About 30 minutes ago I received a telephone call from North Yorkshire Police informing that the CPS is not minded to pursue the case against me for the words I spoke regarding defending myself if attacked and which were subsequently distorted to imply that I would attack/assault trans women in general. It is a relief to know that sanity has returned to the notion of British justice but some part of me was keen to take on the struggle on a wider platform."

Oh that’s great news! What a relief for Linda!

MangoesAndMatchsticks · 09/05/2018 13:03

R0wantrees I had missed it. That's great news. Thanks for posting.

TerfsUp · 09/05/2018 13:06

I'm glad to hear the news.

redshoeblueshoe · 09/05/2018 13:09

Good news.

Greymisty · 09/05/2018 13:23

I had missed it what fantastic news! Relieved for Linda, she's another one I'm fangirling today as she is AMAZING.

UpstartCrow · 09/05/2018 13:24

Really pleased to hear this. The whole thing was an unnecessary use of police resources IMO. But at least this way no one can say their complaint was ignored.

Wanderabout · 09/05/2018 13:25

Of course they did. There was no case.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 09/05/2018 13:28

Good news. Shame they harassed her in the first place :(

Waddlelikeapenguin · 09/05/2018 14:13

Great news i hope they will be pursuing people for wasting police time...

OP from this thread commented:
"Susie Green from Mermaids has appealed against the CPS decision not to pursue Posie.

Posie described truthfully what Susie Green did to her child in Thailand at the age of sixteen: surgery involving the removal of genitals, a decision so shocking to the Thai government they raised the age bar for such operations to 18.

A woman is being pursued and harassed for telling the truth. Can we show as much support as possible please."

Good. Will the police be apologising for wasting scant resources on obviously vexatious complaints?

misscockerspaniel · 09/05/2018 16:09

Common sense has prevailed but I can understand why part of her would have welcomed taking the struggle to a wider platform.

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 09/05/2018 16:13

Good news - but some damage has been done though. LB has been intimidated and the whole thing has served as a warning to all of us bystanders.

Juells · 09/05/2018 16:24

Probably peaktransed a lot of women though. Say you'll defend yourself if attacked by men and the police will be on your case.

DuddlePluck · 09/05/2018 16:29

I'm not so sure that LB has been intimidated - she's seemed rather ferociously unintimidated from what I've seen..? A shining example to all of us!

ToeToToe · 09/05/2018 21:40

Great news. Perhaps the Yorkshire police forces could stop wasting CPS time with these ludicrous cases now.

spontaneousgiventime · 09/05/2018 21:46

These vexatious cases must stop. I am really pleased for Linda, this whole debacle has been a joke. as is another one under appeal

PencilsInSpace · 09/05/2018 22:04

This is great news!

These vexatious cases must stop.

Yes.

bunbunny · 09/05/2018 22:04

It's just a shame they haven't charged/fined/cautioned/etc the person that made the claim in the first case for wasting police time...
