Labour Councillor replies to Twitter transphobia claims

Seems that Ann Sinnott is taking a stand for an open debate on GRA reform where everyone is represented. She's attended a WPUK meeting and states that she saw no evidence of transphobia.

She has been roundly accused of transphobia since retaining her council seat on Thursday.

I thought it was worthy of its own thread. I am not affiliated to the Labour Party and don't support it in any way. Have just been watching this all unfold on twitter.

This is encouraging. Thanks for posting. I will follow her on Twitter and see if I can support her.

Ann Sinnot is the author of the fantastic book Breastfeeding Older Children which I was really grateful for when my children were toddlers :)

She clearly has a good grasp of the issues and of the realities of female biology and child development.

Very encouraging and about time!

lm has been going on full attack mode since it was found she retained her seat.

LM must be a thorn in the side of the LP. LM spends all LM's time attacking women IN the LP or other trans folk. How much time does LM spend attacking tories or men who identify as men in any party whatsoever?

Melamin · 06/05/2018 17:15

V. encouraging. Saw her being attacked for retweeting the Guardian article on twitter.

AncientLights · 06/05/2018 20:05

I'd like to know how much work LM actually does for the women LM is supposed to represent. Before my account upset Twitter's algorithm, LM had posted about representing all women so I asked two or three times 'does that include transphobic women?'. Never got a reply, just blocked and then booted out altogether.

I saw her tweets earlier. Well done Ann for not caving into bullies.

I’ve just realised that I met her, some years ago through a mutual friend. She was interesting, clever, feminist. I liked her.
