How will sex-based rights for women and homosexuals be protected?

Steven Doughty MP has been asked on twitter if he supports women's right to meet to discuss their sex based rights. No reply as yet.

Given his recent select committee questions suggest he thinks parents writing to the times objecting to guides policy which allows mixed sex sleeping and showers for minors in their care and explicitly stating they will not inform parents somehow encouraging hate crime (!?) I won't hold my breath.

This thread then really made me think about the same thing regarding sex-based rights for same sex attraction:

Same-sex love is:

1985: illegal
2003: legal
2015: a fundamental right
2017: transphobic

If the definition of woman (and man) becomes meaningless because anyone can identify into it, how can ANY sex-based category identify itself?

Yeah, one might almost think that protecting the rights of women and homosexuals wasn't a priority for straight men, compared to championing their right to have sex with whoever they want. What a change. Hmm

Same-sex sex has been legal for men since 1967 not 85. It has never been illegal for women. Your dates are odd.

Not my dates it was a tweet, but thanks

It may be dates from a different country as tweeter is possibly US based?

The age of consent for gay male sex was only equalised fairly recently, maybe that it the discrepancy in dates? It was 21, then 18, then 16 I think.

DJLippy · 01/05/2018 11:02

IMO transgenderism feels like straight people accusing gay people of homophobia because they don't accept that lesbians can have a penis. The term 'queer' is so vague that anyone who once kissed a girl or likes kinky sex can co-opt the gay and lesbian experience. As a bisexual I'm getting pretty tired of middle aged dudes in wigs lecturing me I'm doing 'queer' wrong. GO AWAY AND STOP BOTHERING LESBIANS!!!! Then I get a one week ban from twitter for my bigotry...

Drop the T

Yes it was over 21 in 1967. 18 in 95 (I think), not sure of date for 16. I actually have no idea what the OP is actually on about - I just thought those dates were rather random.

Melamin · 01/05/2018 11:19

I think those dates refer to section 28 (and aren't quite right for that either).

LangCleg · 01/05/2018 12:51

Those are US dates. Shoeless Joe is an American lawyer.

How will sex-based rights for women and homosexuals be protected?

They won't be. Its the whole point of the transgender movement.
Its a subset of the male rights movement, which is right wing, homophobic and misogynist.
Left wing men such as Shoeless Joe can see it for what it is. He gets attacked on Twitter as much as we do and by the same people.

Interestingly Fairplay for Women have just written an easy to understand guide for when a man has a GRC and therefore acquires the legal protection of female. As opposed to the protected characteristic of gender reassignment, in terms of discrimination.

It's no surprise that the definition of homosexuality is being rubbed out.

From a legal point of view it appears inevitable. Which I find utterly shocking, given how long the gay community have fought for recognition.

By changing legal sex class a person also changes their legal sexual orientation. A male who is sexually attracted to females is a straight man. If he changes his legal sex to female he becomes a lesbian woman. If he is married, his wife will become officially same-sex attracted and also a lesbian. Sex between someone with a penis and someone with a vagina will be considered a form of gay sex.

After years of fighting for gay rights and same-sex marriage the LGB community now face losing their right to their own protected characteristic of sexual orientation.

Thanks Datun that explains it a lot more clearly than I did.

It would be good if someone could do an accurate UK version of the list of dates though as it's quite peaktrans-inducing.

As for the previous couple of posts I just cannot believe the houses of parliament have brought us to this position. It seems like you could now reprint an up to date copy of that book from the 70s the joy of sex, and keep those original hilarious illustrations of the woman and the bearded man and just recaption them. Instead of "the missionary position" it would be depicted "in modern times we celebrate that lesbian couples also enjoy sexual relationships in their own unique way"
