Help me trace a post from articulate trans woman

I feel like this is a needle in a haystack situation, given the number of trans threads, but here goes.

Recently there was a good post on a thread from an older trans woman (think she used the term transsexual), setting out the establishment of the original legislation around GRCs, including number of people affected, the decision to use "gender" not "sex" in that legislation etc.

Can anyone remember this and recall her username? So I can find the post again. Many thanks.

Was it by Debbie Hayton?

niceberg · 04/04/2018 11:40

I'm not sure it was, but thank you Cecily. Debbie's article on Quillette.com is also useful. I'm compiling a list of good reads for my friend. He was vaguely aware of trans issues but not really - he is very interested though now we've talked though, partly because he took on board my arguments about women's concerns, but also because he immediately realised the homophobia that is inherent in TRA arguments (my friend is gay).

Was it @Jayceedove?

concretesieve · 04/04/2018 11:54

Yes - I thought jayceedove or, perhaps Truscum.

niceberg · 04/04/2018 12:03

Searched jayceedove and some good stuff comes up, but can't find the specific post that I remember! Will check Truscum's posts too, although I've a feeling it will take some time!

Thanks for your help.

There was a thread that involved possibly PeanutButterJelly or a name like that. That was another well received sensible post that generated a good discussion.

I found peanutbuttersquash....but not who I am looking for! Argh you're all being so helpful. I'm about to get off a train and meet up with DH and kids but will do some more searching later.

Hope it wasn't a figment of my imagination!

I don't remember the post you mention but here are two articles charting the course of how the transgender laws we have today came about and the decisions that were made along the way. First part covers evolving equality legislation from 1996 and the second part covers changing legal sex after a 2002 ECHR case.
