ugh. Inspired by the recent thread about violence against women in shows....just watching the Sopranos (yep massively late to the party). So its great, complex characters understanding the nuances of the human condition, including even a reasonable amount given over to exploring the perspective of women EXCEPT FOR the generic Women With Boobs Out who is often Being F***@ked** by some revolting sweaty fat man - but ALWAYS appears to be loving it. I am yet to see one of these random women (or should I call them props) demonstrating anything except for vacant vocal enthusiasm (okay except for an Italian prostitute who was clearly not into it - but was presented as being bored if anything rather than the much more complex emotions that were going on).
So I have no real insight into the emotions that prostitutes feel and the lives that experience. But I am pretty sure its not enthusiastic satisfaction in every transaction.
In a show that is showing such insight into the complexities and nuances of the human experience how come the Anonymous Women who are Being F***@ked** are sooooooo two dimensional.
Very annoyed.
