They have what seems to be a policy of allowing transgender people to stay in a dormitory of the 'gender' they identify with.

A quick look shows a policy from 2013 whereby 'pre-operative' trans people can go in a private room at the same cost of a dorm but 'post-operative' trans people can go in the dorm of the new gender.

It does ask at least 2 questions:

1. How do you know someone is under going reassignment?
2. How do you know if they have had surgery?

I looked at this for SYHA recently.

You have to be a Youth Hostel member to stay overnight. Can apply for membership online in advance of any stay without providing any proof of ID; you are not asked for sex or gender. Not sure what would happen if you turned up at a hostel looking like a man but requesting female accommodation.

Or, you can buy temporary membership when you stay at a Hostel. Photographic ID is required for this, which presumably dictates sex (but not necessarily accurate) for overnight accommodation purposes.
