I’m listening to Graham Norton just now and he’s interviewing a woman who’s written a book about women who were pioneers, great achievers etc.

I didn’t catch the name of the writer. The first woman she mentioned from her book is Silvia Ribera (?) as having been key player in the Stonewall riots. A drag queen!

Yep. The book is actually (I think) about forgotten women rather than pioneers? But anyway Sylvia was a transvestite gay man (their own words) who rejected gender reassignment and only started taking hormones just before they died. Didn't even call themselves a woman never mind expect anyone else to.

Sigh.

So men don't even have to call themselves/believe they are women for them to still be considered 'women'?

This really is the gift that keeps on giving, isn't it?

The author, Zing Tseng, is on twitter. I have a finger poised over a reply to her but not sure I'm brave enough for the inevitable shitstorm from the sistas.
