Perception vs reality re female numbers in business?

I’m sure I read somewhere about some research where men and women perceive there to be equality of the sexes in business - I think the example was that in a room of 100 people where 30 were female and 70 male, most people perceived it to be more like 50/50.

It’s probably something related to implicit bias, but I can’t find anything online. Does this ring any bells with anyone?

Thanks in advance

This doesn't surprise me. I worked at big4 and it was very much like this. Drove me nuts. I now work at a small broker with 4 women out of 41 employees. Women are treated with respect and equally to men. I've also audited payroll. The women get paid the same.

Yes - it was a study of people talking and how that was perceived by observers. Let me see if I can find a link.

Yes, it rings a bell. Will google in a mo. There was something similar about women on tv panel shows - that if there were equal numbers of men and women, that it was perceived as female dominated.
