Link here

They've ID'd one of the attackers & it looks to me as though there's a pattern of behaviour emerging for that person...

Im shocked but not surprised that there's not been a stronger condemnation of this incident & those involved. They're clearly identifiable & seem to be escaping widespread criticism & condemnation.

So somebody awaiting trial for violent assault in front of loads if witnesses has done the same thing again? Is it arrogance or stupidity?

LabourLostMe · 20/03/2018 11:02

Thanks for sharing.

I would be interested to see the footage, particularly of Tanis Wolf.

HomeTerf · 20/03/2018 11:07

Wow.

The level of surveillance and organised intimidation to which TRAs are subjecting women is alarming. How is this not being picked up more widely? If it was the other way round you can bet it would go bloody nuclear in the press, and quite rightly.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 20/03/2018 11:14

I don't think there was any physical assault this time. They're a fucking idiot though

rowdywoman1 · 20/03/2018 11:22

It's good that the threats and violence against women attempting to raise concerns are finally getting into the public domain.
I noticed that Nicky Campbell on the 5 Live discussion talked about how many women refused to be interviewed on his programme this morning because of fear - and this is why!

Judder · 20/03/2018 12:13

Utterly chilling.

UpstartCrow · 20/03/2018 12:15

Its proof (as if we needed any) that the Bystander Effect is the most likely outcome of any attack on a woman. The men in the vicinity will not rush gallantly to our aid.

LangCleg · 20/03/2018 12:18

According to the article, there was homophobic abuse coming from that quarter. I'm pretty sure, if true, that this is another offence.

Thank you so much for posting this link. I've bookmarked it.

I think this will be a tipping point for many regarding self id and the working place. A person should never face harassment and intimidation on a picket line from fellow picketers. The attendance of the WPUK meeting was clear and valid and totally irrelevant to this particular protest.

Elendon · 20/03/2018 12:36

I hope the union investigate this thoroughly. And the bystander effect must have added an extra dimension to this horrifying ordeal.

Perhaps those who stood by will reflect on their behaviour. It could be they were afraid to help because they didn't want to be seen to be anti trans. Really, the LGBT officer in the Union, and there will be one, should speak about this.

FeministBadger · 20/03/2018 12:48

Great article and how refreshing to hear so many people actively condemning transactivism for once. This quote from Paula really shows what we're up against and I hope she's ok: “What upset me most about the incident is, out of the very big crowd which surrounded me and witnessed a completely one-sided and unprovoked attack, not one person felt inclined to intervene. It was a really shocking example of mob mentality."

EllieMe · 20/03/2018 12:51

Let's hope Tanis wolf is confined at Her Mjesty's pleasure.

Popchyk · 20/03/2018 13:00

Sounds like the unions are waking up to this. Finally.

I was heartened to hear Eddie Dempsey (executive member of the RMT) speaking up.

From the article:

Dempsey said he thought, “as a whole, the trade union movement has ducked the issue” of the GRA and that “people were afraid of speaking out.”

“The general feeling is that people are hoping this is going to go away, but it’s not going to.

“We have to make sure as a trade union movement that we have the ability to fight sex discrimination and defend women at work,” he said.

BykerBabe · 20/03/2018 13:41

Interesting to see this from the Standard too

Elendon · 20/03/2018 15:06

Of course it's in the union's interest that they defend women and protect them from sex discrimination. Unions were instrumental in getting reparations regarding pay disparity for many women, and rightly so and sometimes against Labour councils. You don't have to be a Labour member to join a union and you don't have to donate either. It's not obligatory any more. thank goodness!

Trumpdump · 20/03/2018 15:28

So many cowards and misogynists! Is the victim taking legal action?

Popchyk · 20/03/2018 15:55

Interesting that Lucy Masoud of the Fire Brigades Union (LGBT London secretary) referred to the mob as "mindless thugs".

She'll be getting flak from the T for that.

Lucy was one of the firefighters at Grenfell and seems to be having no problem calling bullshit when she sees it.

When Lily Madigan was complaining on Twitter about being searched by a man at the G.A.Y. club, Lucy responded:
"Maybe the man Self ID as a woman and it’s you Liam who is being transphobic".

OvaHere · 20/03/2018 16:25

This is Lucy talking about her experiences as a firefighter.

MsMcWoodle · 20/03/2018 16:34

Wow! A bit of support! Great article.

Elendon · 20/03/2018 16:42

I heart Lucy. What a great speech!

xxmarksthespot · 20/03/2018 16:49

"Let's hope Tanis wolf is confined at Her Mjesty's pleasure".

Yes, in a men's prison where he belongs.

seafoodeatit · 20/03/2018 16:59

I'm glad the union are standing by her.

The silence from mainstream media is deafening. Where are the stories on the harassment and intimidation? Funny how the repulsive list was largely ignored. How many times are we going to be reduced to a minority of feminists? We're half of the fucking population!

thebewilderness · 20/03/2018 22:10

I suppose this form of terrorism is so commonplace that the media do not consider it newsworthy.

AreYouTerfEnough · 20/03/2018 22:46

How long is it going to be before a woman is seriously hurt? Sad

‘Mindless thugs’ sums them up.

yetanotherusernameAgain · 21/03/2018 12:24

The footage is on WPUK's Facebook page:

en-gb.facebook.com/womansplaceuk/

Does it look like Paula was escorted away by a police officer at the end?
