I think this deserves a post in it's own right. This is the thoughts of a trans woman who is a socialist and a Labour supporter. Her name is Kristina Jayne Harrison.

Great piece I thought.

Wanderingwomb · 16/03/2018 20:44

Brilliant. How completely sane and rational is that?

DodoPatrol · 16/03/2018 20:52

As a woman, this is the kind of transwoman I want a beer with.

Mamaryllis · 16/03/2018 20:54

I retweeted this today. Sanity prevails in hidden corners. I keep wanting to cut and paste huge chunks of it.

ALittleAubergine · 16/03/2018 20:56

Had a quick read and seems sensible enough.

From the article:

We urgently need the leadership of the Labour Party to fully address this issue and grasp the nettle. To rescind premature policy decisions on self-identity and firmly take control of this situation to facilitate an open, respectful national conversation

The trouble is, Labour have let it go on so long, and displayed such disregard for women (what about that MN webchat, Jeremy?) and also disregard for basic common sense that it feels like whatever they might do now will be too little, too late.

HairyBallTheorem · 16/03/2018 21:18

Hooray - well said! Big thumbs up to Kristina.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 16/03/2018 21:23

That's excellent! I wonder if the utter dimwit Leanne Wood will read it.

I think this bit is worth bearing in mind:

“The vultures of the right-wing gutter press are circling. They are falsely posing as defenders of women, children, free speech and rationality, better to scapegoat trans people. ”

I have been worrying a bit lately that people on here are being too quick to celebrate when the right wing press (gutter and respectable) have run articles on the trans madness. I don’t think they are, or ever will be, on the side of feminists. They see trans ideology and feminism alike as part of the same lefty nonsense and are unlikely to be allies.

I agree @RealityHasALiberalBias.

I think we have a need to continue to call out people and publications that we know are anti-feminist and anti gay/lesbian even though they agree with us over trans issues and make sure we are separated off from them.
