Gendered Intelligence - advice please!

Anybody attended training with gendered intelligence? It is being suggested for an organisation I care about. I am looking at their website and I can't really tell a huge amount. Are there any alternative training organisations? My concerns in this particular instance would be about safeguarding vulnerable children, and whether this group was responsible in their handling of suicide stats, confidentiality, dangerous medication and sexual abuse.

hallo Jamie
it seems to me your organisation is likely to reinforce gender stereotypes rather than the opposite. Surely the whole logic behind trans identities is that if your biological sex does not match the current gender roles ascribed to that sex, then you have a problem which can be fixed by transitioning and adopting the role of the other sex. Whereas to be truly critical of gender roles, you would be working to dismantle stereotypes and saying you can be any kind of boy./man or girl/woman you want to be.

Elletorro · 02/03/2018 17:12

Jamie

Would you meet with us and work with us to work out how to strengthen the Equality Act exemptions on the basis of sex for:

Women in sporting competitions

Women in refuges

Women and children in toilets and changing rooms

Changing the AWS exemptions so that only women can apply

Do you accept that women are the weaker and more vulnerable sex?

Do you accept that women and children need protections from sexual predators?

Do you accept that the majority of sexual predators are men and that sex segregation is therefore justified?

Do you accept that women have not achieved equal representation in Parliament?

Do you accept that women need to be equally represented in order to ensure that they obtain equal rights?

Do you accept that austerity policies have disproportionately adversely affected women?

Do you accept that women’s rights are for and about women?

Will you accept responsibility for the inevitable Jimmy Saville fuck up damaging hundreds of lives?

newtlover · 02/03/2018 17:12

oops looks like we scared him off

birdbandit · 02/03/2018 17:17

Has Jamie gone? Really !?! a TRA doing a hit and run, when questions got a bit like questions rather than nods? That has NEVER happened before.

titchy · 02/03/2018 17:19

Jamieeeeeeeeee, helloooooo, are you theeeeeeeere.....

birdbandit · 02/03/2018 17:22

This is one of those identity things, where perhaps Jamie identifies as representing an organisation which is breaking down gender stereotypes, despite his organisation promoting gender stereotypes and presenting a third option.

But hey, what's actions when how you feel about what you do matters most.

Datun · 02/03/2018 17:25

@JamieGenderedIntelligence

It says on your website, doesn't it, that Jay Stewart oversaw the science museum exhibition? Is that not the case?

I have two questions, if that's okay.

How do you make a distinction between gender dysphoria and autogynephilia?

And do you agree that homosexuality requires same-sex attraction?

newtlover · 02/03/2018 17:28

it's friday afternoon, I guess

Datun · 02/03/2018 17:29

I have every confidence that Jamie is highly unlikely to address any questions.

But, having him appear, and then refuse to answer highly pertinent questions, is always useful to demonstrate the lack of transparency and refusal to engage.

For all the lurkers, journalists and politicians who read these threads.

Terfmore · 02/03/2018 17:30

Jamie -
I have a 14 year old daughter. Like lots of parents I was not aware of the extent of education about this issue until the topic came up in conversation.
It led to this conversation -
me "so a boy can simply choose to be a girl?"
her - "yes your so stupid of course"
me - "so what happens when you do PE? does he..."
her - "don't say he she's a she"
me - ".. she change with you and how does that feel?"
her - "she's a girl, it doesn't matter".

So - girls feelings do not matter. What is important is that boys are affirmed.

If you provide training and understand safeguarding you will have come across the idea of protective behaviours .i.e teaching children to recognise their feelings and to act on them as a way to protect themselves. What you are teaching undermines that.

As an organisation, we take safe guarding extremely seriously.

Safe guarding of who exactly, Jamie?

I'm thinking of the safe guarding, dignity and privacy of adolescent girls. Do you take safe guarding for them seriously?

Elletorro · 02/03/2018 17:34

We need to hold these organisations to account.

They are putting women and children in harms way.

They will cause women and children to self exclude from public life. I’m already beginning to get a frisson of fear in public toilets. The same feeling when you take the short cut through a secluded area in the dusk and you hold your keys in your hand.

How do we protect ourselves?

Terfmore, I had a very similar conversation with DD except the child in question is a transboy:

me - "so Sally is a boy now?"
her - "yes but you mustn't say Sally! It's Sam now!"
me - "so what happens for PE?"
her - "he changes in the staff loos because, you know, boys and so on, it would be really awful..."

Badweekjustgotworse · 02/03/2018 17:43

Interesting that Jamie doesn’t seem to be available to answer any of the questions posed here. What’s the point in taking the time to post and then not engage?

birdbandit · 02/03/2018 17:43

Now Datun, you know the drill, you can't be using their own evidence from their website, or even what the poor fellow has said in your argument, that makes you the bad guy.

Datun · 02/03/2018 17:54

birdbandit

Never ceases to amaze me the misogynistic mistake they make of thinking women can't read!

bookgirl1982 · 02/03/2018 18:09

I doubt Jamie will be back!

Lefthanddown · 02/03/2018 18:39

It's gone 5 on a Friday evening, everybody in the office has gone home and can't help him answer your nasty questionsSmile

Lefthanddown · 02/03/2018 18:52

Jamie
What advice would your organisation give to a lesbian who has been called transphobic because she doesn't want sex with an intact males who identifies as a lesbian?

HermioneWeasley · 02/03/2018 20:07

Oh darn it, I placemarked because I was dying to hear more from Jamie, who sounds super positive and cheery.

What a shame zee hasn’t been back.
