Yeah, but he won Olympic gold so that makes his behaviour just fine then...

FFS.

"Shaun White is an American cultural institution, winning the third Olympic gold medal of his pioneering career Wednesday at the 2018 Winter Olympics...

...In August 2016, Lena Zawaideh, the drummer in his band Bad Things, filed an amended complaint to a civil suit in San Diego alleging White had sexually harassed her, sending “sexually explicit and graphic images" to her, text messages White later admitted to sending.

...At a 13-minute U.S. Olympic Committee news conference in which only male reporters were called upon, despite at least two women having their hands up the entire time, White blithely swatted away the one question he received about the allegations.

...“Honestly, I’m here to talk about the Olympics, not gossip,” he said.

If he was indeed speaking only about the Olympics, then he is adopting a widely used practice in sticking to the topic - he is far from unique in not permitting off topic questions, and it's one of those things that if it's OK for person A to stay on-topic, then it is also OK for person B.

Sports reporters are often male, though that is changing. You say inky two female reporters there - of how many? Because if they were two of 10 then that really is insulting. If two of 100 then it is more likely to be random as they would be far from the only ones who did not get a chance to ask a question. Bottom line on who gets to ask questions is how big/influential the channel they represent.

The number of women in the major sports reporting jobs is something that probably does need attention. How many women are covering snowboarding (and skiiing?)?

As does the wisdom of deciding to refuse to go off-topic. Because although I think that's a perfectly valid choice, it may have backfired, because if you google his name, you get reports on the allegations and how they have been handled.
