Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Alright I give up, just have the word 'woman'.

While watching the women's march today I just felt a heavy feeling start up in the pit of my stomach.

Certain placards, speakers and twitter feeds have made it clear that it has been hijacked by TRA's.

'Women' shouldn't be talking about reproduction and how it affects us?! Inviting Paris Lees to talk at a march that is supposed to be anti- threats to women on the internet?! Are you fucking insane?!

(that was directed to the world btw, not mners)

So I give up. If they want the word 'woman' I suggest we just let them have it. The word is meaningless apparently these days anyway, it can be defined however anyone wants. It's based on a 'feeling' that no one has been able to actually define to me.

I propose we make up a new gender (they are all made up anyway - might as well join in) and demand it's given as much consideration as all other genders.

I will from now on be a 'XX-er' or 'Double X-er'. That will go on all my official forms etc.

It's a very simple 'gender'. All you have to do to identify as an XX-er is to have two XX chromosomes.

That's it. Doesn't matter what clothes you wear, who you sleep with, how much makeup you've got on, whether you can get pregnant or not.

Also I'd like to see future crime/domestic violence/other statistics compiled on the basis on the XX-er gender.

This way we can focus on the issues that affect XX-er's specifically.

What do you think?

(Ok, so it's slightly tongue in cheek, just feeling a bit defeated today - have received a few death/rape threats for saying that women do not have male genitalia)

Nah, it's not theirs and they are not getting it.

I feel your pain though. We all to take time out sometimes from this madness. Have a good rant, a few Wine tonight and come back when you feel ready. The rest of us women will keep going. Flowers

FissionChips · 21/01/2018 12:57

They’ll want whatever word we have. Makes me sick . Flowers

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 21/01/2018 12:58

Nah, it's not theirs and they are not getting it.

This^ Woman has a meeting and TIMs can get to fuck with their appropriation.

UpstartCrow · 21/01/2018 12:59

No, hold the line they are starting to use 'womxn' to be 'inclusive of WOC'.
'Trans womxn are womxn' works just fine.

Their next line of attack is 'feminism is racist'.

KillDora · 21/01/2018 13:00

It just feel so...Orwellian.

Well put. I'm not giving up fighting, either. Transwomen are transwomen; women are women. Never the twain shall meet.

NotTerfNorCis · 21/01/2018 13:01

They've been saying 'terfs are racists' for ages.

Either 'excluding transwomen' is identical to racism, or 'white feminists' are actually far-right racists.

TortiousTortoise · 21/01/2018 13:02

This is blowing my mind.

DonkeySkin · 21/01/2018 13:04

If women did start referring to ourselves as Double XX-ers, trans-identified men would immediately abandon 'woman' and declare themselves 'trans double XXers'. Because it's not about the word. It's about a male takeover of female reality.

Different vibe at this march - have a think about going and then see if you still want to renounce the word woman.
I like 'woman'. I'm not ready to give it up as I've never associated it with pink and frills and heels and subservience.
Although I do wish I could just have a gender identity I actually identify with, I don't want to throw other women and girls under the bus.

I don’t understand that, what’s the X for? What does X have to do with woc?Confused

Fekko · 21/01/2018 13:07

So what get want to debate? Only issues that effect them no doubt (using whatever loo they want, Miss/Mrs/Ms, tights with extra space for willies - all the Very Important Stuff) and not show that could never cause them any problems at all - pregnancy, giving birth, ovarian cancer etc (silly girl stuff).

RaininSummer · 21/01/2018 13:17

No they are not having it. They are the cheekiest of all cheeky fuckers really.

DonkeySkin · 21/01/2018 13:20

Nothing. Women of colour have always been oppressed on the basis of sex. When they have been discriminated against, maimed or killed because of their sex, or when they've been exploited as female slaves, or raped as colonised women, they've always been recognised as and oppressed as women.

Race is a misdirect that trans ideologues use to distract from the fact that 'gender identity' ideology can't be defended on its own terms. They throw women of colour in there as shield for their male supremacism, because if they used only the framing of 'cis' (female) vs 'trans (male) it would show up the sexism of trans ideology too plainly. They don't care about the fact that actual women of colour are harmed by their refusal to recognise sex and sex-based oppression.

UpstartCrow · 21/01/2018 15:51

FissionChips
Its made up bollox, like all of their 'activism'. If it meant anything it wouldn't need an explanation.

Sillyjelly · 21/01/2018 16:11

Funnily enough when I first saw "Womxn" out of context I was expecting it to be a gender critical term...

I thought it was similar to the use of "Womyn" to reject the inclusion of "man", but updated to remove the Y as in chromosome and replace with the X ( again as in chromosome)

My initial reaction was that it was rather clever!

Agerbilatemycardigan · 21/01/2018 17:14

If they want to have the word "woman" they'll have to prise it out of my cold dead XX chromosomes!

Battleax · 21/01/2018 17:23

I do thing I prefer "XX woman" to "natal woman" when that distinction has to be made.

Battleax · 21/01/2018 17:26

Good. That should peak-trans a few thousand more, minimum.

brownelephant · 21/01/2018 17:27

I like woman more scrabble points than man
woman = adult human female = xx

rosy71 · 21/01/2018 17:31

XX means woman though, so no need for xx woman, xx will do. You can't be trans xx.

Battleax · 21/01/2018 17:33

That's what I quite like about it. Everything you said. The repetitive emphasis. The "you know; a woman woman" flavour. The fact that TIMs will look ridiculous if they try to steal it. All of it!

joystir59 · 21/01/2018 17:34

Just woman will do for me. It's what I've always been since I was a girl. It's what I will always be until I pass. I am a woman.

Lancelottie · 21/01/2018 17:42

I think someone would just claim their Y chromosome was a new shape of X chromosome. Makes as much sense as anything else, really.

Can I be the first to redesign the Scrabble set so it has xxtra xxes in it, though?
