In what ways can we support women officers in politics? A member of my family watched Anne Ruzylo's youtube vid on my FB account . To my surprise they went from, all feminist are men haters, to, that Anne seems to know what she is talking about.

For me Anne really resonates my concerns ,about if i am honest, men in womens spaces . I think many people underestimate the vulnerability of a lot women, young girls especially from care backgrounds, in prisons, DV etc.....

Agreed, panjandrumpyjamas. Young women from care backgrounds are hugely vulnerable to sexual exploitation, and often have been sexually exploited as children. And when you look at the backgrounds of women in prison, they have often had the most appalling life experiences. The idea that they should be forced to share space with violent men is chilling.

When I look at the brave women speaking out against self-recognition - women like Linda Bellos, Helen Steel, Bea Campbell and Anne herself - I see women who have spent a lifetime campaigning for women's rights and social justice. The idea that these women should now be denounced as "bigots" while narcissistic little pricks like Shon Faye and Lily Madigan are revered as heroes makes me physically sick.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 17/12/2017 12:40

Bea Campbell - oh excellent! Another good second waver :)

To the people getting blocked -Can’t you just use TOR and a VPN? Make multiple accounts at once then just hope between them if blocked.

Probably a good idea to hide your IP address anyway.

Maybe some rich feminists could start their own site similar to twitter and employ only feminists and offer feminists a platform where they aren't considered the enemy that needs to be silenced and shut down for airing their concerns and criticising misogynists.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 18/12/2017 19:32

I can guarantee you if you complain about any of those accounts to twitter it will be your account that gets closed down not theirs.

I have complained about that type of account and they have been removed. I've been using Twitter for nearly ten years and have never been suspended, or threatened with suspension.

We already have that here. The trouble is, because it's anonymous anyone can pitch up and claim to be a feminist when they are in fact a MRA/TRA trying to agitate.

I have previously reported twitter attacks on me and that included being directly told "You are a terf and the only good terf is a dead terf" in each case I was told that the tweets weren't against the rules.

However, I'm currently on a 12 hour suspension for saying Science is not on your side. Men are not women and never will be, those pesky XY chromosomes put paid to that

Twitter is a load of TA bollocks.

AsMenDclaredWomenTheirInferior · 20/12/2017 06:07

@SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed
@exLtEveDallas

There was a video on twitter showing a woman being raped and many women on twitter asked twitter to remove it and they ignored all the requests to remove it..
one presumes the men who work at twitter were enjoying watching it over and over again..

If you imagine twitter isn't being run by the usual misogynists and pervs, you are living in cloud cuckoo land.. FB is the same..
& Google

The image is of my last tweet before they permanently suspended me, apparently I was offending some men, who didn't like what I had to say

"I find it very hard to believe that is why you were banned."

You have very narrow experiences I think.

The account @transcrime was bombarded by reports from transgender people upset at the documentation (all very legally correct with i's dotted and t's crossed) of crimes committed by transgender people. It was taken down within a week, as was its replacement.

If you piss off enough vindictive people on Twitter then your account will be gone.

pisacake · 20/12/2017 09:37

also Twitter really doesn't give a fuck about your account or your freedom of speech, they pay people as little as possible to moderate, it's an unwanted expense for them. If you are causing them trouble, even by proxy, they will happily throw you under the bus, it's not something that will exercise them.

pisacake · 20/12/2017 09:38

sorry it wasn't @transcrime, but @transcrimeuk

AsMenDclaredWomenTheirInferior · 20/12/2017 14:00

@pisacake
And if the moderators are a bunch of misogynists one can see why women criticising men are amongst many of those accounts to be taken down.

I understand from Twitter that Anne doesn’t do Christmas, so I send my best wishes for the midwinter break and 2018.
