Gender roles and body image in disney princess films

For my A level film studies course work I am writing about whether Disney films create gender roles and whether Disney princesses in particular can cause body image issues in young children. Do any of you have children that watch Disney princess movies and if so do you think that the films can create negative body image issues from a young age and as the children grow up because they are seeing unrealistic role models of what the 'perfect' girl or boy looks like on the TV screen? Or even if you don't have children, from your own experience or people you know do you think that this occurs in terms of body image and also do you think that Disney and Disney princess movies can create gender roles with girls and boys? thank you :)

You should read 'Cinderella ate my daughter' by Peggy Orenstein.

It's very good and relevant.
