Spoiler: she needed to use an umbrella indoors.

To deal with laundry — in many ways her masterstroke — Ms. Gabe designed a tightly sealed cabinet. Soiled clothing was placed inside on hangers, washed and dried there with jets of water and air, and then, still on hangers, pulled neatly by a chain into the clothes closet.

I like the idea of that!

I've often thought that bathrooms (and maybe kitchens) should be designed so you could just wander in with a pressure washer/hose and sluice the lot down, it seems she took it even further than that.

I have to say that I just got one of the cheaper new generations of robot hoovers, and it's really pretty good (I do have hard floors throughout and all on one level though, so it's the best case scenario).
