I've been watching them but still have last night's to catch up on. I've really enjoyed them - so many of the women featured are completely new to me. I will hold off mentioning the part I found most interesting until you've watched them too, but will be back to see what you all thought!

I watched episodes 1 and 2 last night

it was very good very interesting and very informative and yes I was loudly voicing my anger to no one ds in bed but I shall not be silenced

T'was an interesting programme. However, all I could keep thinking when the presenter kept on about women's role/place in society was how odd it is that men's place in society is never spoken about. It's as if we have society, we have men and these are the two fundamentals, and then women are some pesky add ons that have to flit around fitting in in whatever space is allowed for them - only permitted to exist because someone has to keep the species going. Which of course is how it actually was and how it still is in many parts of the world.

I just wanted to keep screaming at the telly "it's not your fucking place men to tell us what our role is. It's none of your goddam business."

I think it's a miracle that there has not been a time when women have responded violently en masse on the basis that risking being dead is better than being a non person.

I am not generally a violent person but I look back with no regret whatsoever that the teenage me took exception to a misogynistic male teenager telling me that girls were inferior and should stay home and bake etc. etc. by laying him out with a punch to the jaw. But then, the role of victim has never sat well with me.
