Apart from the numerical representation of women in the media it is the way in which they are represented.

One thing I'm noticing at the moment is the way that mothers are portrayed as a daughter's worst nightmare. In real life mothers are often your best friend but not in the media.

Or the nagging humourless competitive wife as a foil to the easy going cheeky chappy of a husband.

The expendable bimbos who are laughed at for being too stupid to sleep with the loveable naughty but nice womaniser.

I could go on .....
