so it will be compulsory to undergo treatment during pregnancy if you are an addict even though there are only 19 facilities in TN offering such treatment during pregnancy and the governor has evaded the medicaid expansion so far, I think, so is not as if people (sorry poor pregnant drug addicted women) can avail themselves very easily of even the most basic medical and antenatal care

I wonder what their adoption process is? Something in me is niggling that these women* will not get to keep their babies. I don't know why.

*poor addicted women, who are statistically more likely to have childhood abuse and sexual exploitation.

This stuff coming out of the US is increasingly disturbing, and their spin gets picked up on by right-wingers over here to try and move attitudes in their direction as well, it's all terrifying.

There was an article on the BBC the other day about how maternal diet prior to pregnancy does something to something or other in the foetus - although they didn't know what effect the changes to the something-or-other actually do or mean but of course it will be picked up as another thing to beat women with and insist on certain behaviours while they are "pre-pregnant" etc

It's all such a fucking slippery slope.

Do you know what also affects fetal outcomes? Sperm. Good quality sperm.

Why have I never seen one article or piece of legislation regarding men's contribution and how that affects the fetus?

I have seen a million comments and articles and campaigns about how men should have "rights" over the pregnant woman regarding "his fetus" but never any regarding his health prior to getting the woman pregnant.

It's all about how women are out to destroy unborn babies by being too young or too old or smoking or drinking or falling down stairs.

It's depressing.

Quite, boobs.

That stairs story is shocking but unfortunately unsurprising.
