From a new OECD survey that indicates the gender gap in unpaid domestic labour shows little sign of closing. Just in time for International Women's Day Hmm

www.abc.net.au/news/2014-03-07/norwegian-men-most-helpful-with-housework-oecd-survey-finds/5305052

The Daily Mail and the Telegraph, meanwhile, have chosen to interpret the survey's results thusly:

Lovely.

LuisCarol · 07/03/2014 01:20

Does anyone have a link to the actual study by any chance?

WorstDateHandsDown · 07/03/2014 06:36

"most of the day on personal care". Sounds like we are getting our nails done, er sleeping for 8 hours Angry

DontGiveAwayTheHomeworld · 07/03/2014 10:06

Eight hours sleeping and 1 hour eating. Hardly frivolities! And where are these three-hours-a-day jobs? Because I could really do with one.

It's rubbish. "Women, look, you get loads of leisure time! So it doesn't matter if men have more or do less housework or childcare!"

DontGiveAwayTheHomeworld · 07/03/2014 10:07

I also don't remember the last time I got eight hours sleep...

EEatingSoupForLunch · 07/03/2014 12:46

How fucking annoying, for so many reasons. I hate phrases like "help out with" housework as it assumes it was a woman's job in the first place. As for all this leisure - what does having the radio on whilst ironing, or knitting watching TV count as? And baths are not 'leisure', they are wadhing!

EEatingSoupForLunch · 07/03/2014 12:46

Arrgh. washing
