a new disallowing relatives of an accused person testifying against them, this just ridiculous, in a country with already a high level of VAW.

That's really shocking..what kind of criminal justice system "bans" witness from testifying? Confused

I imagine it has been brought in to silence abusers..but it won't work only against abusers will it? If you know your brother robbed a bank you can't testify.. so how long before they make a loop hole so that it really is only women who end up discriminated against?

I don't understand why this surprises you considering the record of female abuse which already exists in that country...I just raise an eyebrow and feel sick about it. I am beyond anger now...

its not surprising but angering.
