Fantastic. Smile

tippytap · 27/10/2013 21:19

Love it

That was brilliant!!! I love hearing men come out on the side of women, because far too often it seems that the norm is for men to want to bond with each other over a bit of crappy casual misogyny...when in reality NORMAL men see how shit sexism and misogyny really are!

My husband was online tonight and some douche (his words) told a sexist joke. My husband told him it was sexist, not funny and he wasn't about to laugh at a joke that was demeaning to half the population and his wife and two daughters.

Thank goodness for decent men...otherwise I couldn't be like Dworkin and believe in their humanity.

YoniRotten · 27/10/2013 23:09

Glad you enjoyed it.

SHG, my husband would react the same. Thank goodness for good men indeed.

Your husband sounds like the bees knees Yoni! Just like mine!! :)

I wish there were more of them.

TheDoctrineOfAnyFucker · 27/10/2013 23:48

Nice one.

Whenever this kind of question gets bandied about, I think of Gaudy Night when LPW is asked if he is interested in this question of women's education and responds with, "Is it still a question? It ought not to be."

RollerSkateKate · 28/10/2013 10:29

Och, now I like JW even more.

Ilovemyrabbits · 28/10/2013 10:47

My newest mancrush. I think I luffs him.

DontGiveAwayTheHomeworld · 28/10/2013 12:08

Always loved Joss Whedon, when he says "because you're still asking that question" I grin like an idiot!

Too few men understand that women are people, just like men. JW gets that there is no difference.

Elfhame · 28/10/2013 15:22

What did he say? I couldn't play it.

UptoapointLordCopper · 28/10/2013 16:58

People keep asking him why he writes strong female character. He gives reasons - because his mother is a strong character, because his father believes in strong women, because strong women are attractive, because people are still asking the question, because it should be the default, because you should be asking why people are not writing strong women character, because inequality is toxic to both men and women. WE WANT EQUALITY NOW.

Something like that. Did I miss out or misunderstand anything?

PersonalClown · 28/10/2013 17:07

George RR Martin said a similar thing in an interview.
The interviewer said 'There's one thing that's interesting about your books. I noticed that you write women really well and really different. Where does that come from?'

George's reply??

'You know, I've always considered women to be people.'
