The daily mail has named the twitter trolls who sent rape threats to Caroline Cirado-Perez, Mary Beard, etc.

Good on them I say, no longer can these vile excuses for men hide behind a username or in the case of one bright spark, his own name, he now faces losing his job.

Blimey hope they have those names right ( knowing the quality of their work ) Grin

If so good for them, name and shame the cowardly sexists and I hope they DO lose their jobs etc and good for MB & Caroline CP et al for standing up to the vile abusers!

LaurieFairyCake · 03/08/2013 14:16

I too hope they get a hard time/jail/partners leave them

They are scum.

SingingSilver · 03/08/2013 17:23

It's funny, I always told myself that anonymous internet misogynists were like that odd old guy who threatened Louise Mensch www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2157690/Louise-Mensch-internet-troll-Frank-Zimmerman-spared-jail-vile-tweets.html obvious pathetic and antisocial loners.

But in the main these men look normal, IYSWIM. You would think they have full lives with no need to sit in front of the internet posting their vile thoughts about women. These men are the face of rape culture. Threatening women is normal to them, it's a laugh...

SingingSilver · 03/08/2013 17:35

Laurie I can imagine it being quite difficult in our society for a young woman to leave her boyfriend only for misogynistic tweets. She'd be in line for similar abuse herself.

Caster8 · 03/08/2013 17:37

They will never live down what they have done.
Maybe a warning to all.

KaseyM · 03/08/2013 18:58

Wow! All walks of life: public schoolboy, car mechanic, instructor of engineering! That really says something...

CaptChaos · 03/08/2013 21:30

I read somewhere that the instructor at the school of military engineering actually looked up whether the words in his tweet would be libelous. His wife has confirmed this. In some ways that to me makes it worse. It wasn't off the cuff fuckwittery, but planned and researched in order to cause maximum offense with minimum consequences.

Caster8 · 04/08/2013 07:45

I suspect some of them end up copying others. Doesnt sound like military man did.

Darkesteyes · 05/08/2013 00:58

Bet he uses the ARSSE forum.

They swing one way and then the other.

GummyLopes · 05/08/2013 17:24

The stuff the Mail pumps out is horrible.

poorbuthappy · 05/08/2013 17:28

I read the article and was aghast. As was my dh.
The fact that these men took time out of their day to abuse these women makes me shake my head in wonder. What woman would be part of this article confirming the rogering comment? If my husband did this he would be living somewhere else, away from his children until he grew up himself.

What do they stand to gain? I hope their parents and partners are so proud of them...

Platinumstart · 05/08/2013 17:36

Appalling - The everyday sexism stuff is shocking but this is just another level: premeditated contrived abuse. I hope this follows them around for a while.
