Yes - I hate it when people say that. I feel that it's either a burden to me or an insult to everyone else. Or both. A burden because it implies that it's my sole responsibility to raise my children. If they are "nice" then it's because I'm a good mother. If they are not? (And come one, whose children are nice all the time!?) An insult because it seems to negate input from everyone else, and to negate the personalities and individual choices of the children?
Am I overthinking this?
FWIW though, I do have the seven-timestable by heart. And I can make quite balanced meals. That's not because I'm a good mother. It's because I'm fucking clever.
