Why do some perpetrators of violence seem to get low sentences?

Any one got any thoughts?

Frankly I just want to vomit! Angry Sad

Man Jailed For Attempt To Murder Boy, 4.

uk.news.yahoo.com/man-jailed-attempt-murder-boy-4-134822439.html#shmVN3n

"Steven Frogg, from Mansfield, slashed the boy several times across the head and neck and left him in a pool of blood on the pavement outside his flat."

"Telling Frogg he would serve half of the 16-year sentence in prison, the Recorder of Nottingham, Judge Michael Stokes QC..."

Story is also at BBC but don't think it mentions sentence in same was as the Yahoo one.

I just wish I knew. What do you actually have to do to be locked up forever? I was reading a story about a man in Australia, I think, where he raped and murdered a woman while on bail/parole/remand? For twenty two other rapes!
Another story today about a man who stabbed his girlfriend, then when restrained by police screamed "let me finish her off." She died. I bet he won't serve the rest of his life in prison. It's truly depressing.

What is the ministry of justice doing about this. Are they more interested in minor offences.

There is a story in the paper of a man who got of paying for a meal and was jailed. The headline is Lee Tyers: Fraudster who put his pubic hair in curry to get free meal is jailed.

If we are jailing people for getting out of paying for meals is that why we can't deal with really violent offenders?

So many violent crimes by men against women and children, particularly when the women and children and children are part of his family, have appallingly low sentences.

Gabriela Miron Buchacra springs to mind, where he got 3 years or something for violently murdering his partner, in front of their baby, and the whole thing was recorded on a voicemail.

In comparison the jihadists who planned (and failed) to blow up the EDL rally got 18 years.

I think it's because historically women and children were considered chattel to their husbands and fathers.

Have you seen this thread OP?

I blame the patriarchy.

Thanks SabrinaMulhollandJjones I have seen it and it is so depressing.

I am genuinely shocked that a man who tried to trick his way out of paying for food gets a prison sentence and some people who commit heinous crimes get relatively low sentences.
