Linda Doran is pathetic apparently

This is the mother of the brothers who killed the homeless man in Liverpool. I agree that she doesn't seen like the worlds best mum. But where is the dad? Why is the judge not blaming him for their shitty upbringing?

I'm sorry but this woman has 4 sons all of whom are in prison, 3 of them for manslaughter. I think the judge was quite right with his comments.

I think it was because she provided them with a false alibi that she was sentenced. I think everyone knows that both their parents are a shower of shit.

Right reading about this in more detail... The judge said there was a 'total lack of parental guidance, support and upbringing'. Parental here implying both parents. His further comments on her are because she lied and attempted to pervert the course of justice.

The judge said "not that many mothers would have shown themselves to be either so unwilling or unable to shoulder the responsibility of motherhood as you have". But then again, when her sons were under suspicion, she cooked up a fake alibi for them. So you can't say she doesn't care about her kids.

As for their dad, I haven't seen a word about him. Maybe he's dead. Maybe he ran off because the family was too much for him. What can that bunch have been like at home?

I don't deny she's been a shockingly bad parent but this might have been an apposite time to mention that their dad is nowhere to be seen.

It takes two people (on the whole) to produce children

She is absolutely pathetic. As for 'where's the father in all this', maybe he's in my position. A father who has been denied access to his daughter for almost 10 years (she's now 14), purely because her mother is nuts. I mean really bonkers. So perhaps he's been forced to stay away, against his will, and has had to give up chasing rainbows as he watches his ex play the system, manipulate and poison her daughters' mind, and appear quite normal to everyone, managing to conceal her deep mental issues that prevented us from staying together in the first place. If anyone is familiar with the Tyrone Dobbs storyline in Coronation Street, you'll understand what I'm talking about. That was me basically, but without the 'happy' ending of custody of my daughter.
My ex has already had her two older sons go to jail for affray or ABH or something, - I just hope my daughter can recognise the limitations of her pathetic mother and not end up believing that this kind of existence is 'normal', I hope she will contact me when she's old enough and I can introduce her to what 'normal' actually is.
So before all you mums out there start blaming the absence of a father in this news story, I would ask that you consider the possibility that this woman is not just pathetic, she is a shameful disgusting excuse for a mother, who has failed on every level to instil any moral values whatsoever is her sons, - frankly they should all rot in jail.

OR maybe (most likely) the father is a cunt too! As for the father running away from the boys?? Really? I daresay he is one of the reasons they are like they are. Hopefully they will never be released, but of course, we all know they will.

gosh, jimbo. That sounds awful. It must have cost you many many thousands over the years in court fees constantly fighting to force your ex to allow access and/or fight for custody for yourself. I bet you feel like the court is your second home! I hope that the court finds in your favour at some point. No child should be kept away from their parent. Small comfort I know, but you will at least be able to show her how hard you fought to be in her life.

Would it be fair to say that the society/ the media often blame women for men's crimes? I'm not going to stick up for Linda Doran one bit - I don't actually know anything about her - and I don't particularly want to.

The general question interests me though. I remember The Sun printing a story about Ian Huntley's mother blaming Maxine Carr for Huntley's crimes - something about her not taking care of him at home and driving him to it. Extreme, I know, deranged even. Maybe she was trying to find someone else to blame before someone blamed her? Maybe it was her refusal to admit her son was a predatory murderer? But I was always very Hmm at the Sun for printing that story. I don't read the Sun btw Blush I read about this in an article about Maxine Carr.

Women murdered by their partners are frequently demonised by the press as having brought it on themselves somehow. And of course, sexual assault and victim blaming.

Just pondering really.

I'm a single mum, and I have to say, teaching my son that kicking vagrants to death, and murdering people in chip shops is wrong was not a particularly hard task!

My son's dad make no effort to see him (I have to chase him to come to see his own son for a couple of hours .. Once a month on a Tuesday night if he's 'lucky') ...he lives 5 miles away with his ex PA (...such a cliche)

Between 0-6 boys need their mums most... this is the ideal time to teach them right and wrong basics etc.
But between 6-14 is when their dads are most important
Too late for this woman it seems, but for any other single mums I advise getting them into sport.
My son gets this from his football and rugby coaches.
(PS: Clubs do not have to cost money... most clubs have bursaries to pay for subs and uniforms etc if you are on benefits or kids have learning difficulties etc. And coaches and other managers can drive them there if you are unable (all CRB checked)

Athletics too is good discipline.

Sport Keeps them off the streets and gives them a sense of self respect they probably wouldn't get otherwise.

Always ask about bursary schemes that can pay any fees... I didn't know such things existed. It is well worth asking.

But this just makes me glad I had strict parents to be honest who taught me respect (for myself and others)
Going to Church helped too (although I am not a fan of fixed religion particularly)

What worries me about this story is the self perpetuating timebomb that is germinating wihin our society..

I have one kid because I cannot afford more. (would have loed a big family) but if you can't pay the bills, keep taking the pills ladies!

if people with no education/ no idea how to parent are having 4 or 5 kids, and their kids each have 4/5 kids etc... then Britain is going to be overrun by feral adults in a very short time. It is a time bomb waiting to go off and terrifies me.

Make Tanya Byron the Minister for Children, her Little Angels series was the best thing I ever watched when pregnant - taut me that there are no naughty kids, just weak parents..

MsHoolie, driving around NZ a few years ago I saw some billboards that said something like "A child on a court stays out of Court" which more or less is exactly what you are saying.
