Poster of women doing things?

I want a poster or picture to look at with my daughter - basically to counteract a Disney Princess illustration in a book she got for her birthday.

In the Disney picture the princesses are all hanging about looking beautiful but they're doing fuck all despite allegedly 'playing in the sun'. I'd like to have a picture that we can put next to it and talk about the interesting things those women are doing. Obviously I can cut out pictures from various places and stick them on but does anyone know of something appropriate?

Thanks in advance.

p.s. never google 'women doing things'.

What about the female Olympians from last summer? Bloody good role models.

plantsitter · 28/02/2013 13:52

Oh that's a good idea - I'll have a look for it

OMG googling that was depressing - 'hottest female Olympians' 'sexy female olympians' 'most bustiest female Olympians'

I had a Brueghel on my wall when I was a toddler- not female specific, but so much to look at. The opposite of a Disney picture in terms of imagination firing!

I think I might've had that book as a kid! Love the Brueghels - there certainly is a lot to get her and her sister thinking in those. Thanks.

How old are they?

How about this: hydrogeneportfolio.tumblr.com/post/32224401551/minimal-posters-six-women-who-changed-science Rather strange poster but may be good for discussion? I just googled "women in science"...

An article about the poster. Disclaimer: haven't read in detail myself...

Wow those posters are great, aren't they? I might get some for the girls' room just because they're really cool, but the DDs are only 4 and 2 so won't really be able to discuss them as such yet.

Oh they are little. Smile But they will probably like Sally Ride, Rachel Carson and Jane Goodall stories. Get a few space ships, boats and gorillas as props. What fun you could have! Grin

These are really cool!

They are a bit young for this, but worth going down the WW2 route at some point? here
