Another (more mundane) WTAF... was in B and M's today and they were blaring out "99 problems but a bitch ain't one.." . I approached the manager and said I didn't really appreciate them playing that, esp as I often bring my daughter in. She laughed nervously and was a bit apologetic but didn't really see why it was a problem

Just struck me today, was pottering around cooking dinner listening to current affairs programme on radio. In the order I heard them, there were these three stories- coverage of the Oireachtas debates on legislation for abortion here in Ireland, next the whole Jimmy Saville thing, and while talking to the same UK correspondent, incidences of gender selection abortions among some Asian populations in the UK.

And it struck me, does nobody really see the links here? The common theme underlying this and many other current news that could've popped up.what's stopping people see all thisz? My wtf moment of the day

My appraisal this morning. Same statement included in the "Career Aspirations" commentary box as the last three years. "Whilst Simpkins has expressed an interest in progressing to the next level, she appreciates that her current part time hours prevent this."

I work for a large multinational organisation that "prides" itself on being family friendly and has recently launched a Diversity and Inclusion campaign to ensure that all minority groups are well represented in the workplace. We had a team meeting yesterday in which a number of those present (er, surprisingly, men) met the news of this campaign with an open discussion of how these so-called minorities were merely pigeon holing themselves and really, if they would only just shut up and stop bleating on about being different all the time then it would be much better for them.

I am horrified at that link Freedom. I lurk on the Feminists board but find it actually makes me depressed reading about this and even thinking about it. Makes me think I should have been 'drowned at birth' as I almost certainly don't fit the ideal, what with being a bit porky and 30 years old.

Although largely insulting to women, this Return of Kings site is also insulting to men who don't act like cavemen!
