I know this is an old(ish) thread, but my favourite moment of the Olympics so far was the reception Sarah Attar got as she ran down the home strait 45 seconds after the other runners. It really showed what a massive thing it was for a Saudi Arabian woman to be taking part in Track and Field.

NicholasTeakozy Twas a lovely thing to see. I am a huge athletics fan (been into track and field since Los Angeles Olympics in 1984). It sent a little shiver down my spine!

I'd was really sad their we're no women in the gold or silver medal wining show jumping teams.

I'd really have loved to see a woman on the podium above that smug prince and his cronies who got bronze.

on an optomistic note the image of saudi arabia will have been seriously damaged by these olympics. they are terribly sensitive to that. that may well produce some change in attitude.
