www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/8948620/Bullies-face-prosecution-in-domestic-violence-crackdown.html

Men who bully or abuse their partners in a "controlling" fashion could face criminal charges under a shake-up of domestic violence laws being planned by ministers.

Also possible U turn on dropping of plans to make forced marriage a criminal offence.

but forced marriage is a criminal offence

isn't it?

I'm horrified at the comments on the Telegraph article - both the racist and mysoginistic ones!
Cuibono forced marriage is not an offence yet, I believe.
I think the proof of the pudding will be in the eating.....the article says perpatrators 'could' be prosecuted. Anyway if this is intended to win back the alienated women voters, I doubt very much if the Condems will risk alienating their mysoginist voters for this purpose. Let's wait and see.....

its about bloody time if it happens,

theres a thread on AIBU about someones P who regularly leaves his gf and kids with no money & heat, she isnt allowed on the net, takes his modem to work.
People like should be in Prison.

They're such a bunch of rabid abusers on the Telegraph site aren't they.

Makes you wonder about their private lives.

aubergineinautumn · 11/12/2011 22:11

How are things like this not already enshrined in law in the 21st century?

ElfenorRathbone · 11/12/2011 22:35

Because to control or bully women is considered perfectly reasonable. Regrettable, bad bheaviour, but not really the business of the state.

Look at all those frothing Telegraph commentators up in arms about it. You can tell they're a bunch of bullies because they're so outraged that someone might stop men doing this. As if.
