Hi
Could anyone recommend a good book about the history of women, or an account of the role of women throughout history, for a total beginner in women's studies. In fact, I would appreciate any recommendation of any good book or basic bibliography on women's studies.
Thank you.

I was going to suggest that one, Prolesworth. Its a very long time since I read it, (probably going on 20 years Blush ) but IIRC its pretty good. Not thrilling, IYKWIM, but a good basic starting point.

I have just finished reading Women, family and society in Medieval Europe, Historical Essays by David Helihy. It's obviously not a complete history of women but it covers the 10th-15th century in europe and is very interesting.
