I feel great. My skin is much better and strangely I feel more confident.

Just wanted to share Grin

Well done, I wonder if you are smiling more too.
Your skin will feel soft and lovely, find someone to stroke it and tell you. Smile

fluffles · 25/04/2011 17:22

glad you're enjoying it - i never wear makeup day to day, only for night's out or weddings...

thefinerthingsinlife · 25/04/2011 17:30

One thing that truely made me smile is that in the sunshine I get very freckley (sp) across my nose and usually my make up covers it. Yesterday dd said to me "mummy you have lots of fairy kisses"

good stuff I've noticed in hot weather you feel better without too

belgo · 25/04/2011 18:24

Most women I know look better without make up. I don't think I've worn it for 9 years, since I got married.

elphabadefiesgravity · 25/04/2011 18:29

I am 37 and only wear make-up for going out. I have just started in the last 6 mnths to wear a little very light foundation and lipstick for work (part time 3 days per week)

Everyone comments on how young I look and how good my skin is.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 25/04/2011 19:20

Good for you!
I sometimes brave a naked face if my skin hasn't broken out and my eyebags don't look too pronounced, but not if I'm doing anything vaguely public...

Love the fairy kisses!

That's very sweet about your dd and the fairy kisses, and it's great you're feeling good about not wearing any.

I think make-up is probably bad for your skin quite apart from the feminist implications. You're putting petrochemical based products on to it, when naturally it ought to be uncovered and breathe. I'm sure my skin feels happier now I don't wear it any more.

AliceWorld · 25/04/2011 20:45

You know I don't wear make up and people have commented on my young skin. Never made a connection (not that there's necessarily one to be made) I don't understand how to wear foundation. Love the fairy kisses btw, made me smile.

fluffles · 25/04/2011 20:56

i have freckles and i have never worn foundation as it makes me not look like 'me' when they're covered.
i wear a touch of powder to even out for special occassions and some mascara (fair eyelashes) and lip gloss which wears off in five minutes.

the mascara is the only thing i actually think makes me look 'better' as it makes my eyes pop out more. everything else is just rubbish imo.

Ephiny · 25/04/2011 21:06

I've been told I have 'good' skin - and if I do, I'm sure it's down to the fact that I have always just left it the hell alone! No makeup or creams or products (except sunscreen, though a shady hat is even better!), just an occasional wash with the simplest cheapest unscented cleanser stuff I can find. This is partly laziness, partly feminist principles, also I have sensitive skin that doesn't respond well to any kind of interference!

Glad it's working for you OP. Nothing wrong with make up if you like using it, but no one should feel it's compulsory!

Insomnia11 · 26/04/2011 18:43

I only wear it to go out of an evening now- not for work! Mainly as it saves me ten minutes in the morning, and I wear glasses for work so the only bit I really worry about - dark shadows under my eyes - is partially obscured anyway...

I do enjoy putting make up on before going out though, but it feels like a treat not a chore then.

scottishmummy · 26/04/2011 18:47

i love a big squirt of perfume, dollop handcream.oh all things fragrant

JessinAvalon · 26/04/2011 19:43

That's good, the FinerThings. I am wearing less too and often feel inclined to wear it in hot weather. I don't like the idea of it sliding off!

I'm not brave enough not to wear any to work. The one time that I did, a few people asked if I was ok because I looked ill! Er...no....this is just me without any makeup on!

Beachcomber · 26/04/2011 19:47

Enjoy!

I have never really been bothered to wear make-up. On the odd occasion I have worn it, I always felt like the cleaning it off couldn't be good for the skin either - all that dragging chemical imbibed cotton wool over one's eye. Not nice.

jugglingjo · 26/04/2011 19:59

I've rarely worn make-up, though played around with some in my teens - a bit of lip gloss and cream blusher, that sort of thing.
Glad to see I'm in good company here as I do sometimes feel unusual. And of course you're right, ephiny, - no-one should feel it's compulsory !
Sun screen and hats are the way to go !
