Can you report someone for being really fucking irritating?

What are the rules for reporting someone?

You can report anyone for anything. Sometimes the response from MN towers is TS.

msrisotto · 07/04/2011 19:42

I'd probably need to be more articulate with exactly what about their posts is so offensive to stand a chance of anything happening about it though right?

OP posts:
Goblinchild · 07/04/2011 19:48

Give it a go, see what happens!

Thanks Wink

I will do it (I think this is my first time!)

I reported someone once for exactly what SGM said and I they got banned (although I must admit I didn't include the fact that their brain was the size of a pea Grin).

I suspect that there would be a tipping point too in terms of the number of people who complain especially if it is about a specific set of posts in a short period of time Wink

AnnieLobeseder · 07/04/2011 20:01

One of MN's greatest feature though is that it is unmoderated and we're free to say what we like. Sometimes this comes back to bite us in the bum when someone really annoying keeps popping up, but that's way better than heavy regulation IMO.

Annoying people usually get bored and wander off, especially if you ignore them.

msrisotto · 07/04/2011 20:02

Yeah but there's a line annie Wink

Sure, indeed, there is a line, and it's worth reporting someone if you think they've crossed it, just pointing out that MNHQ might disagree.

Who are we talking about anyway?

PeterAndreForPM · 07/04/2011 20:15

You could try, msrisotto

but it won't work, I have been doing it for months, every time said person shows up on sensitive threads with a very particular agenda

unfortunately , free speech is allowed in our society

it doesn't mean that particular fuckwit is quite as clever as he thinks he is though

give 'em enough rope...

ChristinedePizan · 07/04/2011 20:24

I know I should post on that thread but I can hardly bear to read it. I certainly can't watch the link. I think someone who only posts on one kind of thread and has a prurient interest in certain topics should be banned but I'm not in charge. Sadly

Okay I will do it. Even though I can't actually read his posts because they make me feel sick (maybe's that a good reason to report them?)

PeterAndreForPM · 07/04/2011 20:31

sorry, ignore my negativity

report away, report away

ChristinedePizan · 07/04/2011 20:48

I have :) I'm not holding my breath though - not sure 'there's something about the posts that make my flesh crawl' is a very strong argument (that's not actually what I wrote but that was pretty much the essence)

chibi · 07/04/2011 20:50

Which thread is this?

thenightsky · 07/04/2011 20:58

Which thread is it?

ChristinedePizan · 07/04/2011 21:23

The Ch4 Porn one

Beachcomber · 08/04/2011 08:48

Have reported too - I think we might be able to get him on personal attack. Wish we could ban him on the basis of being an irritating creepy wanker alone though!

JessinAvalon · 08/04/2011 08:54

Have reported too. Given the nature of the posts I am surprised they are still there, even though I know it's still early.

I want to report the ones who pretend to be women for not being very convincing, the occasional reference to a fictitious husband and accusations of unsisterly behaviour are good identifying marks in posts but they are so annoying and so thick. Why are they allowed?

sethstarkaddersmackerel · 08/04/2011 20:19

has he been banned yet? I pressed the good old ignore button on him some time ago.
