...are David and Goliath selling a pink mobile phone cover emblazoned with the words 'I'm too pretty to do Maths'?

Here

My kids are too young for shopping as yet, which has probably made me totally oblivious to the amount of rubbish out there for girls. Is this sort of thing typical? Because if it is I am going to spend a lot of their childhood feeling very angry!

Yes but unless you want to join Take That, when has not being able to dance been a real disadvantage to boys?

HerBeX · 31/03/2011 23:48

And there are some who say (unkindly I feel) that even if you want to join Take That, not being able to dance is not a particular disadvantage.

sharbie · 31/03/2011 23:50

Grin supposed to be light hearted??

madwomanintheattic · 31/03/2011 23:50

sharbie - where? i need a link.

some little tosser started grilling ds on tuesday about why he goes to dance class. i was ready to commit murder.

harecare · 31/03/2011 23:51

I think I may have to write a complaint about that too. It's utterly appalling!

sharbie · 31/03/2011 23:51

dd has one - key ring. little boy is wearing a tutu.

madwomanintheattic · 31/03/2011 23:53

Poor non-dancing boys. Destined to be dad dancers in later life. Much worse than not being able to do maths.

Just looked on the David & Goliath site. Lovely toddler t-shirts with "Lock up your daughters" and "Ladies Man" on them. And a wallet saying "Gold digger, like a hooker only smarter". And yes, some horrible boy stuff too. I think they're trying to be "edgy", which is odd since that nonsense is mainstream. HerBeX's ideas are much edgier. I'd never heard of them before, so not buying from them in the future will affect neither of us.

iggi999 · 01/04/2011 00:03

Have added a review.

harecare · 01/04/2011 00:07

Madwoman - my little brother went to ballet and his big sisters went to army cadets. Both great places for meeting members of the opposite sex!
Add to that he was good at ballet and we liked running around in the forests and camping.

madwomanintheattic · 01/04/2011 03:56

my sil (who is a judge and supposed to be edumacated and everything) bought dd1(11) a 'gold-digga' hoody for christmas.

MoChan · 01/04/2011 08:37

What vexes me is when people say such products are 'ironic' and that I "don't have a sense of humour" because I don't like them. This stuff is attractive to little children, often marketed at them, and to be honest, I've yet to meet a young child whose sense of IRONY is WELL HONED.

AliceWorld · 01/04/2011 08:58

Emailed - should this go on AIBU so Littlewoods can feel the full force of mumsnet?

Becaroooo · 01/04/2011 09:00

Hmm well I cant do maths and I've got a face like a bg of spanners....

AliceWorld · 01/04/2011 09:03

Grin Are you any good at science? I've heard it has the same effect.

MrIC · 01/04/2011 09:04

weren't David and Goliath the people who did "boys are stupid, throw rocks at them." ?

obviously they've decided that the lack of recent controversy has been bad for sales. what is it with some people thinking that offensive slogans/stereotypes are cool?

Becaroooo · 01/04/2011 09:06

...I liked looking at pictures of willies in text books biology but chem and physics, no.....

Guildenstern · 01/04/2011 09:48

Wow, I went off linedancing out last night and have come back to all these replies.

What I'm hearing is that there are indeed some manufacturers out there who propagate this sort of stuff. Once the kids start going to school I will no doubt encounter more of it.

I will e-mail Littlewoods and complain, and will also complain about other items as they cross my path.

MrsClown · 01/04/2011 12:39

I have sent an email in complaint and will keep you informed of response.

Unrulysun · 01/04/2011 13:27

HerBeX please let me have those T-Shirts. Please. :)

Unrulysun · 01/04/2011 13:28

Has this gone into AIBU?

Off for a look.

2sons1hubby · 01/04/2011 13:37

I am shocked! I am going to email the link to all the women I know and ask them to email littlewoods.

Unrulysun · 01/04/2011 13:40

Well if it had there are two threads now. What a load of wank. I mean really.

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 01/04/2011 13:41
