The anti-rape resource blog

Many thanks to those of you who have offered suggestions etc. in response to my request for help to try and set something up as a campaign against rape.

There are - as many of you pointed out - a number of excellent campaigns already underway.

So I've decided to start a blog with the aim of collecting together as much material relevant to the current situation regarding rape in the UK as possible. I hope this will prove to be a valuable resource to anyone who wants to take further action against rape and related crimes and may help add fuel to the fire of current campaigns and drives to improve this dismal state of affairs.

I haven't abandoned the idea of starting something to help rape victims pursue their attackers through the civil courts, but that will clearly take a lot more thought and work.

This at least can start straight away.

SO...

Please take a look at the first post, if you have time and let me know if you spot any glaring inaccuracies or if I've (unintentionally) worded things crassly/craply etc.

Here

My intention is to continue to add to the blog with any useful material I come across - so again, suggestions are very welcome!

Thanks for your time - you've been an inspiration.

You and me both, neeps!

It depends on how fussy you are about the presentation of the photos, I guess. If you don't mind it in FB format, then that would be easy to set up.

A flickr feed into a blog is what DH suggested. Obviously, I would happily accommodate a drip feed of pix onto Set A New Precedent, but if you want a wall, maybe you could set up a new blog linked to a flickr account...????

Anyone with any technical knowledge who could advise...?

OK, I've started adding some links (so far Rape Crisis) - but please recommend some more and I will add them too.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 13/03/2011 12:32

That's a very sweet thing to say, FB, thank you!

I think in the scheme of things it's a very small unamazing thing, really...but if it can jolt a few people in the right direction...

To make that page did you create a new page or add a group to your existing account?

With the It Happened To Me wall, you could ask women to write it on a piece of card and hold it in front of their faces, so that it's clear it's a real person (which always hits home a bit) but would be more anonymous.

I'm very keen on doing a photo with a I Believe You poster - tell me when it's all set up!

steamedtreaclesponge · 13/03/2011 23:18

FlamingoBingo, that's just what I was thinking - that would have a real visual impact without being too scary for people to do.

Love the ringing in idea on one day too, although I'm not sure how the practicalities of it would work - if women have screwed up the courage to report abuse and then can't get through because the phone lines are tied up that wouldn't be particularly helpful. But I do think if it could be managed then it would be a very good way to show how widespread sexual violence has become.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 14/03/2011 07:33

Yes, DH and I are both poised to do our "We Believe You" placards!

Lots of good ideas coming through....
