Whither the women of Libya?

Has anybody read/heard any serious discussion of women's experiences of the recent Middle East revolutions?
I find it so depressing that most media reports focus on the security sector or 'hoards of young men' either in protest or forming vigilante groups, and virtually none talk about what has happened to the women during the unrest. Am I being selective in my viewing? Why is this question always ignored in international affairs?

Ignored in the mainstream but I have seen some coverage. Not Libya but I have seen a collection of photos of the women involved in Egypt. And other stuff that I can't bring to mind. This was stuff to counter the mainstream though.

I was thinking about this earlier as I often play 'spot the women' in the news footage, and musing on how what is shown of the situation focuses the conflict rather than what else is going on.

I saw a lot of women invovled with Egypt's revolution the BBC news coverage made sure that it was clear that their revolution invovled all groups and they showed this by interviewing many different groups including women I can remember the 2 young female doctors and another 2 women talking to the reporters and that was sometime ago. But Eygpt's was much more peaceful the army and the government were reluctant for any violence to occur and so many people could come out and protest including children.

Libya unfortunately does not have that luxury many people have died over 300 now I believe, because of the violence towards protesters there will less diversity out on the streets.
