Can't find anything remotely connected to womens workshops/issues.

I haven't found anything here. Bournemouth seems to be a black hole in the fabric of feminism.
Was told in no uncertain terms that there's 'no demand for that kind of thing here (sniff)' when I asked about feminist books in waterstones.
Would you be interested in starting one up? I keep looking at the UK feminista website baout starting one but haven't had the courage to do it on my own.

I ask because a spirited discussion with DP,DS1 and DS1's GF prompted me to say to GF that i'd look for a group for her and i to go to and now i can't find anything.

She and i ended up ganging up on DP and DS1.Smile

Don't think i'd be much good at organising it though.I wouldn't know where to start.

Sounds like there are 3 women already - go for it!

I have 2 other friends that may be interested as well, will give them a call later.
So a potential 5?
That's not a bad starting point is it?
Will have another scour of the UKFeminista website.

A student has just set up a feminist society at Bournemouth University

me too I'd be very interested in a local feminist group.

I had the 'sniff' attitude in the Bournemouth waterstones as well. Castlepoint though usually stock one book from the feminist genre.

One book does not a feminist section make Angry

Hello all! I just randomly found this discussion when I typed 'Bournemouth Feminist Groups' in Google. I'm not a mother but I am looking for women of all ages and walks of life to start a feminist group!

Has anything come of the discussion? I've contacted UK Feminista and they said they don't know of anything except the BU group.

I'm really excited about getting together in solidarity...especially to do fun fundraisers together for charities like Womankind Worldwide and Women for Women International!

Please let me know. I'm happy to organise if there's a core group. We could possibly start with using Meetup.com?

Hello,
I am wondering whether you did end up creating your own feminist group? I'm shocked at how little groups there are in Bournemouth! The only group I have found is the university one however I am not at university yet and when I do go I will probably not to be attending in Bournemouth. If you could let me know I would really appreciate it!
Thanks!

Try Bookends in Christchurch High Street - they may not have Feminist books (i haven't looked) but you won't get the negative attitude - they are very keen on helping their customers & try their best to order anything for customers as soon as possible.
As for feminism... the only feminists i've met in Dorset are foreign students / immigrant workers who appreciate their new-found freedom.

Hi! came to Bournemouth in July to stay another season, I really would like to form a group feminist.I from Barcelona and here if there is much libertarian movement , I 'd like to meet feminist girls, doing concerts , lectures , self defense ...

I hope your answers!!

I grew up in Dorset and I had a pretty feminist upbringing. I remember there being a lot if people at Poole Arts Centre when Germaine Greer was speaking there once, though I think it was still called Poole Arts Centre, so it was a while back...

Not that that helps with any groups currently.
