Read this post on Tiger Beatdown last night, and learnt a hell of a lot about Joan of Arc. Her story really is incredible, and I love the way this is written.

Just, y'know, sharing. :)

Ta for this Elephants, I've bookmarked it to read later :)

It's worth it, Coleys.

Was laughing at the bit of the wikipedia entry on her that baldly states "Joan of Arc wasn't a feminist" on the grounds that she banned prostitutes from the army encampment. Ah yes, because we all know that encouraging prostitution is the one non-negotiable attribute of a feminist Hmm :o

Wow. I didn't know any of this stuff. Brilliant! Have shared the link on FB, thanks again :)

Am I linked with you on fb?

I don't know (foolishly I failed to make a list of MN alter egos when adding people on FB) - didn't you say on the FB thread that you were keeping the two domains separate or am I thinking of someone else? (Disclaimer: my head's full of porridge and memory is not what it was)

Would love to have you on me friends list though, but totally understand the reticence about mixing the two

Thanks for linking this here! I would not have seen it otherwise.

It's lovely to have other people to share this stuff with, Rina. Sady (Tiger Beatdown writer) has written some brilliant stuff about various frat-boy type films as well, and it's thanks to her post that I bought The Book of the City of Ladies and found out that feminism tracked right back to the 15th century. :)
