Following on from the Representations of Women in the Media carried out in Bristol last year, just as a matter of interest, I've been checking up on the representation of women in The Observer - what should be a more right on paper - for the last few months.
I've been checking up on the photos that they've printed in their sports section (about 20 pages). And for the last few months, there has been about on average about 4% representation ranging from none at all to sometimes about 20% (and that was because there was an advert featuring winners from the Commonwealth Games).
It's difficult to be interested in women's sport if it's not represented in even one of the more 'right on' newspapers that we have.
